I'm not particularly pop culture savvy, so YouTubers are the pop culture of my world. I personally find them celebrities, but everyone I talk to doesn't feel the same. My favorites are Tyler Oakley, FineBros, TheNotAdam, but this is only the tip of the iceberg and the first three that come to mind.

Or there anyone else on EC who's found any YouTubers relatable or helpful in their lives or with coming out? Anything?

I don't really count Youtubers as celebrities, but that's just my view on the word "celebrity". Famous, however? Influential? Yes.

Mostly, I watch gaming or makeup Youtubers, but even they have helped with my confidence, and with taking pride in myself. For the most part, they try to keep their comment sections free of hate, and anyone mocking or bullying are treated as outsiders - which, in those communities, hateful people are.

    The Youtubers I watch are:
    Markiplier
    EntoanthePack
    LordMinion777
    Madeyewlook and Madeyewlook Twice
    KlairedeLys and KlairedeLys Art
    GemoDawn Games and SCPReadings
    be.busta
Rajat Tiwari (more a musician who posts music on Youtube, but still an awesome composer)
    Piano Horror
    Toxic Tears
    Ree Ree Phillips
    and KillNatalie/BatcaveDilemma (it changes).

MadeyewLook is very openly for equality and also has diabetes, meaning that she's not an ass to people with similar health problems. Also KillNatalie is bisexual, leaning strongly toward women, though she hasn't been active in a while.

But Markiplier is just awesome. He's not a bastard... hasn't collabed with a bastard since his early days around two/three years ago, other than JackSepticEye, who I personally dislike but isn't too terribly bastardy to my knowledge... doesn't say anything about gender roles, hardly anything about people's appearances, and in that case, he's pretty okay... Nothing about "alternate" sexualities or genders... He also treats the fans like a family. Also, he went through so much last year; He wound up in the hospital needing emergency surgery, he lost one of his best friends to suicide and got hacked a few weeks ago. And yet, he's been strong through it all, and loyal and loving to his fans. He's also incredibly smart, nerdy, and has the most pinchable, cute, round cheeks. :3
Uhhh, on his face. Perverts...

AND THE HAIR! OH, THE HAIR! SO FLUFFY. AND ALSO ON HIS HEAD.

    STAHP.

Apart from Superwoman who I relate to a lot culturally and age-wise I do follow TheFineBrothers, an Indian Lady who posts Recipes and all channels of Buzzfeed. Although I'm not sure if the last one counts as a youtuber

I follow the vlog brothers religiously. I watch mostly educational channels, like sci show, crash course, wisecrack, the school of life, vsauce, cgp grey, xidnaf, and the like. Once in a while, i dabble with gamers and vine comedians, but that's on occaison. I love elders react on the finebrothers, and other social experiment videos. Basically, anything that makes me more aware of the world i live in, i will watch it on youtube!

A celebrity is a celebrated and popular person. Youtubers and popular and celebrated, and have probabbly done more to help the world get better than most "mainstream celebrites" ( advice, charities, meetups etc:wink: , so yeah youtubers are celebrites.

Finally like-minded people! I love many of those YouTubers like Superwoman and the vlogbrothers. I do try to watch anything that informs me of the world's wonders and knowledge, but my brain has a difficult time retaining the information. As for gamers, I watch them on occasion, especially Markiplier - apparently not enough because I didn't know he was having problems - because of his awesome personality. When it comes to gamers, it's not really about the games they're playing, it's if they can keep me interested in watching them, ya know? But I don't know everyone listed and I have much to discover still.

It's nice to see everyone's different ideas on what they consider celebrities and not. I like it when people have different opinions and can still be nice about expressing them.

TheNotAdam is an amazing YouTuber. If you like daily vlogging type stuff I would recommend checking out the channel he has with fiancé Will. The channel is shep689. I found them a couple years ago and I've been hooked ever since.

I like all the controversial YouTubers

    -Onision/UhOhBro
    -Brandon Rogers
    -Jacksfilms
    -Drew Monson
    -Kids w/ Problems

I just find all the crude humor likable when in reality, I should be triggered by it. Just something about all of it that makes me laugh instead of cry.

    I enjoyed jacksepticeye's undertale stuff.

The only channel I watch obsessively is Epic Rap Battles of History.

Fine Bros. are terrible. I do watch AVGN and the Nostalgia Critic, but most of their stuff is found outside of YouTube now.

I really get bashed a lot where I live, so to handle the frustration I tend to watch a lot of people who are far more educated. I love JaclynGlenn's videos but I sort of have to watch them when nobody's around, If my parents caught me listening to somebody so smart they'd flip their shit.

Yeah definitely! I don't even watch the news anymore mainly because I don't have cable and I spend most of my time on the internet. But the first thing I did when I began really questioning my sexuality (back in 2011) I went to Youtube. There weren't a lot of Youtubers who were bisexual/pansexual so I didn't know what to do other than watch the gay/lesbian youtubers talk about their struggles and experiences. So I basically got most of my knowledge off the internet and reading other people's stories. Now I'm here. I'd name all the youtubers I'm a fan of but I've been watching youtube since 2005 I don't even know who I'm subbed to anymore....
