On my father's side of my family, all of my cousins are either queer, gay or bi.

brainwashed.....If there are any family members beside me who are gay, they have done an excellent job of keeping it hidden! Of course, I did that myself. No one that I have come out to has said anything like "I knew it all along!" Nope, every time I came out to some one I got the "No s***, are you serious?". Several times I've actually had to convince the other person that I was telling the truth!

My sister has a daughter who's a lesbian; my brother has a son who hasn't come out but definitely pings, and my other sister calls her kids a "girl/boy and a boy/girl". (Although to be fair, she is very judgementally counterculture, and would have been embarrassed and horrified if she had a boy who was into manspreading and dodgeball, or a girl who hosted tea parties with her dolls.)

I've also had some questions about my dad; I copied a lot of his marriage script but the more I think about it, the more I wonder if there were other similarities. I had a cousin who I havent seen in decades but I'd put money on him being gay, and another who's a definite possibility. Interestingly, the common factor seems to be my grandmother, as all the possibles are her descendents--and the children my grandfather had with his first wife all seem utterly straight, as are their kids.

I don't know of anyone else in the family but when I came out I was told not to talk to anyone in the family about it. If anyone else in my extended family is LGBT that likely happened to them also and I would never have found out.

Heavily weighted to one side of the family. Interesting.

I have a millennial-age relative who came out at a young age. It was obvious. Completely accepted in the family. More proof to me that I would have been accepted in previous decades too.

I suspect a cousin on my mom’s side is a lesbian. I really like this cousin, and as I type this I realize I haven’t come out to her so probably will soon.

I wonder if two of my great aunts on my mom’s side were - they never married. I didn’t get a chance to know them because they died when I was young. They were fully loved and included in the family.

Edit: I forgot there is another that came out (teen) recently. I’d suspected after meeting the youngster a few years earlier. A cousin once removed on my Mom’s side, and totally accepted. I hear my cousin-in-law (the kid’s parent) was bisexual (so genes may have come from there?).

That I know of, I have one bisexual female cousin from my mom's side, and one at least bisexual male cousin from my dad's side. I say "at least" because he is not out at all and hasn't confided anything concrete with me yet, but I'm sure of my assertion because despite his ever rotating parade of girlfriends it's pretty hard not to notice that he wants to bone me.

Do you suspect the cousins or do you know for sure?

Some cousins from both sides who have never gotten married. This is a large extended family. I think a few might be G/L and a few bi. They have never said anything.

Some are nice people and some aren't. This is what matters to me.

With one cousin I know for sure. With two other cousins I only suspect. The latter are now both dead. I remember the latter when I was a small boy. They were two brothers who lived together into adulthood. I thought this was odd for my only definition of what it was to be a full human was hetro. (didn't know about homo back then.)

It would be an interesting sociological study to see how many aunts who never marry are gay. Of course I do not know how such a study could be done because subjects die off before anything is really known about them.

And yes of course, some men are absolute pigs so if I was a woman I'd not marry either.

Dont you just love it? Like it's a big no subject. My family was the SAME WAY.

Aside from being an interesting read, the book Sex at Dawn: How We Mate, Why We Stray, and What It Means for Modern Relationships is a great way to get people to talk about sex. Simply leaving the book out, the provocative cover, is all it takes.

Not that have spoken about it but I suspect my dad's brother is. He's never had a girlfriend or even talked about women but he did enjoy his time in the navy. My dad's sister is also unmarried but does talk about attraction to men.
