    Not to sound rude, but what's the point. I don't see why they shut down the picture thread and replaced it w/ click on the link to see the picture. Aren't they pretty much the same?

    Yeah... I was actually just coming to that same realisation.

    Maybe we could end this thread and people who want to see people's new photos can check the new photos page thingee?

    After the transition to the new system is completed, those links will only work for established members (mods/Paul, correct me if I'm wrong). So no, it's not the same.

    Lurkers and guests could see the picture thread, lurkers and guests can not see gallerys and albums, well they may be able to now, def not when the changes happen

    I'm pretty sure every level of member can see public albums

    Right... well then this thread will make a lot less sense to have around if only a small subset of members will be able to see the photos it refers to. So I think it's worth considering taking it down.

    Well, if there's going to be an EM section, I think that this would be the perfect thing to go into it, so people don't really feel left out. :slight_smile: Until the changes occur, I think that it can stay here, and then it can either be deleted if a EM section isn't created, or added to the EM section is created.

    Well, established members will want to use their privileges, otherwise the idea of having different levels would be pointless. As an established member I have the right to use those services, right?

    Uhm... yes, I'm not talking about taking away any privileges. I mean getting rid of a thread specifically to talk about new pictures because of the issues caused by the original "post your pic." In reality, there's no need for this type of thread when there's a page where people (Established Members, I mean) can see a list of people's new photos.

    I think it is kind of pointless - if people upload new pictures to their galleries, won't the people that are meant to see them..erm..see them? Why do they have to be announced here for? =s
    Thesame thing will most likely end up happeneing as it did in the picture thread - the same people posting more and more pictures.

    I am in favour of this thread as it allows members to post updates on their albums. Could their be a problem as there was with the "post your pic" thread (as you (joeyconnick) were indicating in one of your earlier posts)? Yes, absolutely. Maybe what would help is having a rule that states that you can only post comments in the albums. I do think that a compromise can be found somewhere along the line. If there are people who repeatedly post an update so be it. It just means they have uploaded new pictures in their albums.

    Another point to remember is that the thread that was deleted was specifically "what do people look like". This one is to alert people to album updates.

    Please note, albums can contain pics of many things other than the poster themselves. They could be holiday snaps, events the member has attended, their own creative photographic endeavours, submissions for Full Spectrum - anything (to which they own the copyright - ie, the pics are their own).

    Perhaps it might have been better left until the albums are more 'private' - but hopefully that won't be very long. Meantime, Paul indicated he had no problem with this thread - I have no problem with it based on the criteria I just outlined - so can we please stop squabbling about it? :wink:
