Alanis Morisette and Liz Phair were both 'Indie Queens' of the 90's. Alanis Morisette having the most successful alternative album of all time(Jagged Little Pill), and Liz Phair having one of the most critically acclaimed albums of all time(Exile in Guyville. They're both mentioned in many articles to this day about their cultural relevance, artistic value, etc. But, who's a better artist, or just who do you simply like better and why? ---------- Post added 19th Aug 2016 at 01:05 AM ---------- :roflmao:OK, i accidentally put this thread in the wrong place. :dead:
Alanis! Jagged Little Pill was one of the first cds I learned all the words too as a kid (the other was Rocky Horror)
I like Liz better. I have nothing against Alanis at all, but she has just always seemed too mainstream for my taste. I would hold out the possibility someone can be into both of them at the same time, but Liz Phair does it for me.
Oh yes, Alanis Morissette was a big favorite of mine as an adolescent. Jagged Little Pill remains an incredible album with impact decades later. I remember sitting in my best friend's bedroom, back in the 90's, continuing to listen to the album past the end so that we could hear the bonus track. I also remember when Uninvited was popular, absolutely my favorite song as a teenager. How about Fiona Apple though? The video for Criminal was mindblowing, so sexy!
Alanis is one of my favorite artists of all time. I stop whatever I'm doing anytime "Uninvited" comes on. I remember begging my mom for the Jagged Little Pill cassette tape back in the mid 90s. I listened to it so many times I burned it out...then I got the CD and wore that down. I've gotten another CD I've had for several years as well as a digital copy of it. She's amazing.
Definitely Alanis. I grew up listening to her the most, and her music is amazing. Liz is good, too. But Alanis is my 90's Queen. <3
