At least I think it is. I know that later in life has been a little quieter recently, some people have moved forwards in their journeys others just coming to terms with where they are at the moment and new people joining all the time. A friend sent me this link and I thought it was such a powerful message I just had to share it with you all. I hope everyone is having a great Friday https://ted.com/talks/ash_beckham_we_re_all_hiding_something_let_s_find_the_courage_to_open_up
Thanks for sharing. Came across this one too which is interesting https://www.ted.com/talks/morgana_bailey_the_danger_of_hiding_who_you_are/up-next#t-610690
I’ve read a few books about eastern philosophy and some topics about modern neuroscience, so the concept of who “I” am is different than what they are pitching
I've watched that too @silverhalo and the one you posted @Lia444, thanks for sharing, they both really resonated with me.
Nice speech. I guess we make these kind of things such a big deal in our heads and when you finally say it is kind of anti-climatic. At least in my case it was. It did help that when I told people I acted like it was not a big deal so they did too (most of them). Now to the part of telling every new person or people at work if that is even what I want to do.
I love this speech! It is my all time favourite and whenever i am down, need a laugh or encounter homophobia i watch it and feel better. I also send it to anyone clutching a grenade gay or otherwise so they can bust out of that closet. If you are a fan of Ash Beckham (and i really, really am!) check out this lesser known Ash speech about a time she had to chose between two roles in her life, Aunt to her niece or advocate for the LGBTI+ community.
Sorry I couldn't watch that earlier because I was at work. I have to admit I hadn't heard of her but someone sent me the first one and it was so good I felt I should share it with EC. This other one is really good too so thank you.
I am a huge fan of Ash Beckham! I love that video, and I've shared it with a lot of people IRL who have struggled either with coming out themselves, or with the coming out process of a loved one. Such a powerful and moving talk. The one that azure au posted is awesome as well. As someone who thrives in her duality in many facets, I always end up basically saying "YAAAAAAAASSSSSSS" the whole time.
