    Hi everyone!

I'm a Canadian high school senior, who is 17 due to being ever so lucky and having a December birthday, (I feel oh so special, I graduate high school at 17, and go to University at 17, I feel so smarts. :icon_wink )

I'm new to this whole community thing, but I'm really looking forward to having a place where I can talk to other people like me, (There are not many gay people in my area that I am aware of/ friends with).

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I'm going to go into Nursing at University

:welcome: to EC. You'll find a number of Canadians here (just not me - I don't talk aboot things, eh?) (I love the Canadian accent....)

I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for here - we're really a great bunch that doesn't bite!

A Canadian welcome! Is that different than any other welcome? Are Canadian welcomes colder than those of other places? Hmm...[goes to ponder this]

Doesn't it kind of suck to be the December baby? All of your friends can drive before you, can go clubbing before you, you're the youngest person in every class...

...anyways, welcome to EC! We have brownies. Not BC brownies.

I keep seeing people claiming that Canadians pronounce it "aboot". Maybe in Newfoundland? I've never heard it anywhere else. Someone from Eastern Canada correct me if I'm wrong...and everyone else please note that that's not necessarily a Canadian thing.

Huzzah, another Canadian. Welcome to EC!

I've never really heard anyone say "aboot" unless they are playing up the accent, and I have meet numerous people from the Maritimes.

Thanks everyone  I appreciate the welcome ^^

About the Canadian welcome, it brings frigid air with it and maple syrup. (Seriously though, have you heard about that wicked snowstorm that hit Canada/ Northern States? It was brutal. I have snowpiles the size me outside in my backyard!!)

    I wish I had an accent :frowning2:

I wish I didn't. I had an L/R speech impediment as a kid, which has faded into something vaguely reminiscent of a New Zealand accent overlaying my fast-paced consonant-dropping BC accent. Even people from here sometimes have a hard time understanding what I'm saying--I'd confound south-eastern Americans--and no one can figure out where I'm from.

...actually, let me correct that. For every Canadian who laments not having a distinct accent: CANADIANS can't figure out where I'm from, they'll guess any UK+commonwealth country. Americans ALWAYS know that I'm Canadian. There must be something we're not hearing that they pick up on.

I didn't know there was a storm. Can we have your snow? Living in the mildest area of Canada sucks sometimes. We got one day of snow this winter. And it rained for four months.

    Greetings fellow Canadian,

I'm in Montreal, just joined here at EC and already loving it!

Did you know you can actually pick a "canadian" mood (see mine), I wonder what it means???

    Cheers/Salut!
