Day 23 - A song that you want to play at your wedding

Not much to explain here. I don't want one of those cliche songs which you hear at almost every single wedding. Besides, why not choose a song by one of my absolute favourite bands?

day 13 - a song that is your guilty pleasure
This song is DEFINITELY my guilty pleasure. I remember getting the first half of the 1st season of Glee out from the video store, started watching it at 11:30pm, thinking "hmm, I'll watch an episode before going to bed." I started watching it, then watch the next episode and so on until I checked the time and it was 6am. Ever since then I've been hooked on Glee, and their trademark song <3 SQUEEEEEEEE!!

Day 24 - A song that you want to play at your funeral

I can't really think of any song in particular that I would want played at my funeral. Anyway, I have chosen this one because it's sounds like something you would play at a funeral.

    By My Side - INXS

Yes, I know that when most people think of an INXS song for a funeral, they think of Never Tear Us Apart. After all, that is the main song which featured at the funeral for the original lead singer of INXS, Michael Hutchence, in 1997. However, I like By My Side more than Never Tear Us Apart.

Also, I know the audio in this video is pretty ordinary to say the least, but this is one of the few videos of this song on YouTube which isn't a live version and/or features one-time replacement lead singer Jon Stevens, or JD Fortune for that matter.

Day 25 - A song that makes you laugh

Today's selection comes from the TV show Fast Forward, which was an Australian sketch comedy show which ran from 1989 to 1992. They did quite a number of parodies of well known songs during their 4 year run, with this one being one of the best known, and possibly even the funniest of them all...

ABBA's Here - parody of Mamma Mia by the cast of Fast Forward

I've Been Neutered, a parody of the James Blunt song You're Beautiful which featured on the sketch comedy show Comedy Inc, was a runner up in this category. I figured that it might be better to choose the ABBA parody in case some people find the idea of a song about being neutered a bit too much to handle. I also nearly posted Friday by Rebecca Black, as that song also makes me laugh, but only because it's so appallingly bad.

Day 26 - A song that you can play on an instrument

What a tough category for me! I played piano for around 4 years, trumpet for around 2 years and baritone horn for 4 and a half years. Needless to say that I have quite a number of songs that I could choose from!

Anyway, today's song selection is one that I played on the baritone. In fact, I used it as part of my solo assessment component for music at high school. The first time I played it for assessment purposes, I made the mistake of leaving my jumper on. Unfortunately, this piece was originally written for strings, and while this arrangement was written for trumpet, I don't think it was meant to be played by a baritone. By the time I reached the end of the piece, I was feeling extremely hot and so short of breath that I barely made it through the end of the song and struggled to hit the final note. I don't think I could even hold it for long enough. The first thing my teacher said when I finished was "Do you need an ambulance?" because I was so out of breath. Every time I did a solo assessment after that day, I always made sure I took my jumper off.

There are plenty of other songs that I wanted to post, but I decided I wanted to post that story too.

Day 28 - A song that makes you feel guilty

Today's song choice comes from the original version of The Sims. I spent many hours of my early teen years playing The Sims and I LOVED it. The music too was great. However, this particular piece from Build Mode was the one piece of music in the game I didn't like. It makes me feel guilty because I didn't like it as much as the others.

Build Mode 5 - from PC game The Sims

FYI, according to Wikipedia, this particular piece is called "Now What?"

Day 29 - A Song From Your Childhood

Queen - We Will Rock You

One time going to school this song came onto the radio and I started analysising it. I came to the conclusion that a guy was in a craddle being rocked side to side so hard that he started bleeding... How I miss my 5 year old brain.

Day 29 - A song from your childhood

Today's song selection is dedicated to my parents, and to all of those times when we were out driving in the car on a Saturday night, tuned into the 5AD Saturday Night Jukebox. My parents listened almost exclusively to an easy listening radio station called 5AD when I was a kid, and every Saturday night they had the Saturday Night Jukebox, where, from 6pm in the evening until midnight, they would play non-stop hit songs from the late 40s, 50s and early 60s. This was one of the songs which often featured on Saturday Night Jukebox back in those days.
