Pride month being here and all, me and the only other lesbian in the school have been wearing rainbow colored jewelry, as well as a young woman who isn’t gay but is supportive. We all joked about having to be subtle. We don’t live in a very open minded community. Our cosmetology school has recently started night classes, and a gay guy whom I befriended started going to them. I stopped by the school to pick up something I left and he came over to hug me and commented on my choker. (some of you may have already read about this in my previous post about being excited when seeing other gay people.) Well, the next day, I ended up buying another rainbow choker just like mine, snuck into the salon, crept around to the break room, and left it there with a note, then ran out. No one saw me. They were all in class. I may be an adult, but my parents are very controlling, and would be mad if I was stopped by the school without a good enough reason. And I didn’t want to tell them I bought a gay guy at school a rainbow choker to match mine, because I’m not out to them. But as I was driving around town running my errands, I was feeling pretty good about myself. I don’t get many chances to do nice things for people. I felt like gay Santa. Rainbows for everyone! Lol! The next day, the choker was gone and he wrote on my note his Snapchat and we’ve been talking all day. Anyway, it’s just a small part of a little story about a gay guy and a gay girl who have completely different schedules becoming friends that I thought I might share. It might not seem like a big deal to some, but my town is not very accepting. And it’s lonely and hard to be gay. And I don’t really have many friends anyway. So it’s a big deal to me.
That is such a sweet story. It was so nice of you to give that to him! I'm sure he really appreciated it. I live in a conservative town as well so I understand a little of what you're going through.
That's so awesome!!! I'm glad that you two can bond, especially considering your community is pretty rigid. "Gay Santa" Lol that is the best thing I've ever heard
