...mine was a kind of a waist trimmer when I was super skinny. Go figure.

Several years ago I got what was supposed to be a Hot Chocolate Kit or something along those lines from my Grandma at Christmas, but when I opened it, it turned out to be in tatters. The reason being because the Canadian Border folks decided to be quite rough with it.

I was pretty heart broken and disappointed.

Every year at Christmas and for my birthday my dad used to give me...£10. At some point after the millennium that got raised to...£20.

It wasn't the money (or lack of it) it was the fact he simply couldn't be bothered trying to find out what I was interested in or use any imagination or creativity WHATSOEVER regarding presents.

I see what you mean, Beth. The thing with me is the older I get, the happier I am with getting money instead of gifts.

Everytime someone gives me a beauty set with shower gel and such I kinda feel a little selfconscious afterwards, even though I shower everyday.

I'm not really sure of a bad gift that I received personally. But I remember my mother received a shirt she already owned wrapped up as a "gift" from my uncle/her brother...I'd say that one was pretty bad and just plain mean. My mother wasn't happy and was hurt over it. Also my grandma gave her a card she received and whited out the OG message and wrote something and she gave it to my mom. My mother ripped it up and threw it in the trash. I honestly don't blame her. My grandma and mother had...kind of a toxic relationship....I didn't really have much of a relationship with her either, Ra rest her soul.

How does a person criticize a gift or let on that they don't want?

Someone I know brings me religious trinkets that can be worn and I won't do it. I'd prefer practical gifts like the ones I give.

I just give them away after I get them. There is no way I'd want to wear this stuff. She's too into this and it's almost immature feel-good stuff. I'd like to stop getting these gifts.

I got the most hideous dressing gown ever from my mother. She loved it but I would rather burn it than wear it. I’d rather burn it than ever see it again.

When I was little, I got this set of colourful, girly rolls of tape (not really sure why someone gave a child that, though I’m now really into duct tape) and I remember complaining to my mom about it. I hated how the guy just assumed that because I was a girl I’d want something other than Lego, toys, or books.

I got a weed whacker when I was like 10. I couldn't even use it because I didn't have the proper equipment

    Who gave that to you?
I think my worst gift is from my grandmother because she always gets me jewelry or something girly like nails. I just don't like that stuff but I don't want to say anything because it's hard for her but I haven't worn any of the jewelry she has gotten me.

My worst gift was one of those terrible fake diary story. It could have just been a mediocre boring love story if the main character wasn’t homophobic. I read it once and dump it.

Thanks, but don’t apologize, you didn’t gift it to me. Honestly I think the person who give it to me didn’t read the book, they know I like to read and it was cheap. But yeah, following a character who thinks homosexual are pedophile was an awful moment.

I once received an apron from an aunt and uncle. The trouble was that I don't cook, and they knew this. upon closer inspection I don't think this apron was for cooking in the kitchen, but more for cooking in the bedroom. :grimacing:

In elementary school I got gifted a box of bunch of Christmas ornaments what were star shaped and out of straw and they were glittery. We were exchanging gifts and we all got a random person to get a gift too. I felt dissappointed, because I thought how lame, because others presents seemed so much cooler, but it really wasn't a lame gift and now I put them up on our tree every year. They have lasted me for years and are very cute on a tree.

I haven't really received many the worsts gifts ever. I think that everything can have a use, if you can come up with it and it's the thought that they even went through the trouble of gifting me something that counts. They could've gifted me nothing.

a blouse that I don't like. But my mother forbids complaining about gifts. Therefore, I am sincerely grateful and even wore it several times
