Wow. Really feel hopeful about this site and communicating with likeminded people. I know (chose that word over think) I realized in college that I was at least bi, probably gay. Used to go to the student union building and walk by the Stonewall Union office more than a few times. Think life would have been a lot more fun if I ever had the balls (ha ha) to walk in. Now, I am looking back and thinking that there are some things I really want to do. REALLY want to do. I’ve never talked about this to anyone. But if there is a welcoming community in my geographical area that would welcome a regretful soul, that would be very much appreciated. I’m in central Ohio. Don’t know if that is okay to say that, but that’s where I am. Thank you for the welcome

StillWantit.....Hello and a great big LGBTQIA+ welcome to Empty Closets! I can remember the first post that I made on EC. I was desperate for help and I got the help that night that I so needed. I hope that we can help you in the same way that I received help. The most important thing to remember about Empty Closets is that we do care about you! We're very glad that you found us here on EC and hope that we can answer questions, give you support and provide a place to vent (as long as it's not violent!) :old_big_grin: when that becomes necessary!

*****There are 18 different sub-forums here that you can check out and join in the conversations or start your own thread/conversation. When I first joined Empty Closets I was in need of a lot of support and encouragement and I found it here…EC is a safe place. I hope that you'll find good things here too! Folks here will talk to you and share...you don't have to be afraid of asking questions...we're glad to have you! Empty Closets is all about making connections and giving LGBT folks a voice when they otherwise don't have one in their day-to-day lives. In particular you may want to check out the forum that is titled "Sexual Orientation”, there are people there who have dealt with some of the same kind of issues that could be challenging you. You should start doing some google searches in your area for LGBT support groups. Surely there are some groups in Columbus...even though it's in Ohio! :old_big_grin: I live in a very, very conservative area and while they are few, they are support groups even where I live. Of course you've found us here on Empty Closets and we will help in any way that we can!

Some info on how to navigate EC:
When you have made at least 10 posts on various threads you will be able to post messages on a member's Profile Page. Just click on a member's Avatar Picture and then click on "Profile Page" in the dialogue box that pops up. You'll then be on their Profile Page and there will be a box that says: "Write Something" When you have been on EC for a few weeks and have made at least 50 posts on various forums, you can apply for Full Membership. A Full Member can send Private Messages (PM) to other Full Members and share personal contact info. Right now you can only send a PM to a Staff Member as that is always possible. Here is a quote from the Full Membership information forum: :old_cool:

*****To be eligible you must be a member of Empty Closets for a minimum of two weeks, and have a minimum of 50 posts. These posts must be across numerous forums (Fun & Games does not contribute to post count), and consistently posted across a minimum of two weeks. You wouldn't be eligible, for example, if you registered, had no activity for two weeks, and then returned to post 50 times on your 14th day of membership.

*****Well, as I said, we're very glad you found us! :old_rolleyes: If you have any questions at all, you can always send me a Private Message.

Welcome to EC. We hope you find what your seeking here. I certainly have. Today I have more clarity around who I am, what that means to me and those I’ve shared my truth with. You’ll find your way around the site too. Takes some searching and working it through, but it gets easier every day. Again welcome. Glad your here!

@StillWantIt, welcome to EC. I am pleased you found this site and I’m also pleased that another 60 something is going through the same thoughts that I am. In college my best friend left school and sorta disappeared. Years later I found out that he had come out of the closet and was living in California with another man. I was so happy for him. I wish that I had been that brave, but I was married when I found out living the heterosexual life I thought I was suppose to live. Had a beautiful baby girl and when she turned 2, my wife started cheating on me unbeknownst to me. After 9 years of marriage I find out that she was a cheater. So at that point, I found my girlfriend in college sleeping with my roommate, and my wife had cheated on me. But being in a rural community I was determined to prove that I was a man and remarried 3 years later only to have my second wife cheat on me when she read some correspondence I was having with a gay man. After 10 years of being single again, and looking to find a man I could relate to the entire 10 years, I’m back where I started living with a woman who just doesn’t satisfy my physical and mental needs. The only men I found were just looking for a one nighter. I feel like Leisure Suit Larry, who is looking for love in all the wrong places.

I truly hope we both find ourselves accepting what we are and not worrying about what others might think.
