Hey, does anyone here wear pronoun pins/buttons? What kind of reactions do you get?

I plan to order some custom made pins soon and am wondering where you feel comfortable wearing yours.

I plan to wear mine for anime conventions and other LGBT+ friendly events. I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them elsewhere.

I just bought a pronoun pin, at an anime convention oddly enough. I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do with it yet besides pin it to my lanyard at other conventions. I want to add it to my bag of pins/buttons, but I also use that as my purse and I don't want to invite questions at work or from family.

I'm in the same boat, to be honest. I'll have to hide my pins from parents and others who may be shocked.

I just wish more people were open-minded and didn't think displaying your pronouns makes you a "snowflake." :disappointed:

I kinda want to get a pin, but I wouldn't be able to display it or wear it. Can't even have anything rainbow, without people getting suspicious. In my language, there are really no pronouns, other than they/them, or people just call you by your name or you.

See, that's the thing that I find fascinating about other languages. There are some that have gendered words and there are some that aren't gendered at all and don't even have male or female pronouns. Both kinds of languages deserve respect, of course.

I recently noticed on Twitter that a benefit to having "they/them" pronouns is that it can be more familiar to other people who's first language have no pronouns. Although it's not the reason why I use them for myself, I just find that tidbit really neat!

I have a Bi Flag button I'm quite proud of, wear it on diverse clothes and backpacks. Don't think most people even know what it is, but don't mind much. I don't own it for show, it's more for myself, I don't know if it makes sense...

Thinking of hanging the LGBT flag on my kitchen. It's a rad Flag, always loved it.

Yee, go for it! I agree that it should be safe to wear your bi flag button since most anti-LGBT folks don't know what it means. Of course, everyone knows the rainbow Pride flag, but not so much the other LGBT flags, unless they've gone out of their way to research them. Just be prepared to answer if people go up and ask what your bi button means.

I did order my new pronoun pins a few days ago. I also ordered a demigirl and the two queer flag buttons. The queer flag is the black rainbow flag and I also got the purple chevron flag version. I also have my omnisexual button and rainbow button that arrived in the mail a week ago. Thinking of getting a genderqueer button someday, but not sure yet. I'm afraid of having too many Pride flag buttons. Does anyone else here have that worry of having too many? :persevere:

Very true. I'm not very confrontational and have a need to be more assertive. What's wrong with respecting pronouns?

Yeah, same. I'm glad people here are nice about pronouns. There's no reason not to be. I'm sorry if I sounded defensive, I really wasn't. :flushed:

Sometimes wear a little bi lapel pin to work. It is the shape of a flag. A truck stop off a major interstate, kind of a conservative crowd. To be honest if people notice they don't know what the colors stand for however every once in a while, a young person smiles and nods. Makes for a good feeling inside.
I am a little older than you all and to the point in life where if someone doesn't like what they see I don't care.
