I like Thomas Sanders. He's a former vine star who now has a YouTube career. There's a web series called Sander Sides where aspects of his personality are represented as different characters. Each episode tackles a different subject such as whether it's OK to lie, when to prioritise yourself VS when to prioritise others, dealing with intrusive thoughts, and so on. In the episodes, the characters interact with each other through the power of editing. He plays each character and it's fairly impressive that he's able to portray each side so well that it's actually fairly easy to forget that it's the same person.
For me it's Aurora (she's a musician). I love how unique and ethereal her music is. Another LGBT icon for me is Dodie, she's also a musician who makes soft alternative pop music. She combines the soft melodies with deep lyrics about things like mental health or identity. Two of her songs, "She" and "Rainbow", are about her experiences as a bisexual woman.
Well, there's Boy George who is bisexual and Klaus Nomi who was gay (he passed in the '80s). They were part of what got me interested in LGBT issues. I later found out on my own that I'm part of the community as well. Cyndi Lauper is an LGBT rights advocate because of her sister being lesbian. Her song True Colors gets me emotional every time. It didn't use to be like that before I really started exploring who and what I am.
There are so many...here are just a few: Colton Haynes, Tom Dayley, Troye Sivan, Randy Harrison, RuPaul. There are too many to list everyone, but these are some that have had an impact on me. .....David
My heros, all the young people who had the courage to post comming out stories on You Tube. I must have wotched 500 of them, I thought if they can do this as young adults I can also in my 40's. Their courage became my courage. Life is still not perfect, but oh so much better. Also this site and a huge Thank You to @PatrickUK who took the time to help answer so many questions.
Howard Ashman would be one of them because his work created some of the most memorable songs and characters in Disney's history.
