I would want to be a librarian. Being an avid reader I noticed my local library has no more than 10 people at most in there at any one time. And that’s usually including the three librarians. Unfortunately you need a degree in anything and then another specific one to be a librarian. I wanted to be a doctor when I was young until I got old enough to know that a physical disability, a complete inability to concentrate and lack of money means I will never be a doctor. I don’t think I’ll ever have a job I want. But I don’t think I’ll ever have a job at all.

Why not be ambitious? It's good to aim for the stars! Even if you don't get there, the road is interesting and you end up higher.

I often wonder which degree I would choose if I had the chance again. Or if I could go to university again just for fun. I'm finishing my engineering degree right now.

I also thought about a creative career, for example pursuing a degree in graphics or architechture or history of art and about studying psychology too. Some kind of philology would be fun too. Okay, it might be a little broad. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I also thought about law and finance, but not because it interests me per say, I thought about it more because of the earnings and maybe also because I like jobs that deal with concrete problems. Okay, so I probably covered every humanities degree out there, lol. I pretty much explored the sciences, but sciences left me cuirious.

Aw @Loves books Please don't give up. I'm sure you will find a job. I'm sure there are plenty of careers that could benefit from someone such as yourself, and by that I mean a book lover and a kind person.
A librarian is a cool job. It may not be exactly your dream job, but never say never.

Aw cool. Congrats on finishing your engineering degree.
Any ideas what you're going to do with it, or not yet?

Aw cool interests. Well, I think the whole point of science is to make one curious lol.

I actually changed my major around in the beginning. Sooo... this is why I feel like I fully explored the sciences.
Sciences degrees most often lead to a career that is strictly about this subject. So, say, someone with a degree in electric engineering will work as an electric engineer. I mean, you don't have to, but it opens that possibility and these are well paid jobs and there is demand for engineers. You can also pursue any career that doesn't require any particular degree, and there are plenty of those. I already had a job in my area for some time and I liked it, but having a job and attending a university at the same time is exhausting, so I'd rather finish my degree first and then go work. And I I think I liked the job, yeah, so I will stick with the career. But I wonder sometimes about starting over another degree. Or maybe doing it part-time. I think I would be happy do a creative or humanities degree part-time when I'm finished with my current one.

In University, I studied Ancient and Medieval History, and Languages. It was interesting and I learned a lot. But over the years my interests have changed. If I could do it over again, I would learn animal husbandry, and have a ranch.

That's so cool. I really like learning languages too. I do now a bit of Latin myself. What is animal husbandry? That is a new term for me. I do love animals also.

Animal husbandry is the care and breeding of farm animals. Wikipedia adds, “the judicious use of (farm) resources.” To those of you who may not be familiar with ranching, animal husbandry usually refers to horses, cows/cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, etc.

I have severe cognitive issues and learning has become very difficult, it is part of my several disabilities. If I could either redo my life or have those issues fixed I would love to study mathematics. It was my best subject back in school. Statistics is very interesting to me.

I'm sorry you have severe cognitive issues and dissabilities. I hope things get better for you.

Having dreams is great... Even if you can't achieve them, which who says you won't? Never say never! .... But whilst you wait and are hoping to improve and find ways to cope and manage (which I really hope you do) maybe imagining and dreaming you studying maths and statistics... Maybe that will keep that little, amazing spark in you strong and help you escape from the daily struggles you are facing?

    Hey there!
I love that you say you’d be a triple threat, the ambition is amazing! I hope you work through your performance anxiety ❤️
I would honestly love to be a lawyer, I actually studied Criminal Justice in college. However, one of the top ways I express myself is through piercings and tattoos, so I’d have to face the choice of deciding between being who I am or doing something I know I’d love because I know my appearance would never be accepted in a courtroom. It wouldn’t be as bad if my piercings and tattoos weren’t so visible, in fact I could easily just wear clothing to cover some. I have stretched earlobes that couldn’t easily be concealed, and facial piercings though!

That’s okay, I appreciate your reply so much though! I’m definitely going to follow my heart and just stay true to who I am, there’s other career choices out there, but one one me. ☺️
