I’m going to be baking scones in the next few days and was wondering what types of cooking/baking you’ve been up to. Post pics of your lockdown goodies. I call it the EC bakesale.
Do you do gluten free, dairy free. And if so what flavours do you like to bake in your recipes? Do you have a favourite or just bake as you go. I like to listen to music when I’m cooking in the kitchen, it makes me more in the zone, & somehow the food tastes better. Fact. P.S I do like the traditional jam & cream scones even though cream is super rich....
I lovee baking desserts, though don't have any pictures readily available Just a friendly reminder that y'all do want to show pictures you can either upload a picture to your EC album by clicking Menu/Media/Add Media. Post here to let us know that you’ve updated your album! Or you can upload it to an anonymous hosting website such as https://imgbb.com/.
I am vegan by choice but due to food intolerances (IC and other issues) I also have to be Lactose free (not a problem since I am vegan), Wheat free (I do not seem to be sensitive to the Gluten in Rye), Nightshade free and I also avoid too much Soy (I was totally soy free for a while). This past fall I baked a vegan pumpkin pie https://forum.emptyclosets.com/index.php?media/pumpkin-pie-on-halloween.27830/ I also baked a chocolate cake and cinnamon rolls but do not have photos of them. I also cook a lot of meals from scratch. For my dinners I make large batches then eat on them for two weeks or so. I make a bean soup, stir fry with brown rice and a vegetable mix that I put on pasta.
For the benefit of all members... when serving your scones, it's jam first! And just for the sake of clarity they are scones and not scons. The 'e' is there for a reason.
What a silly man! Calling them scon's is just as bad as putting cream on first. I think people outside the UK underestimate the seriousness of this issue. It's spoiled afternoon tea on many an occasion.
Ok, I was a cook in a fancy ass hotel for a bout 5 years of my young life, but some one define "scone?"
I'm the cook in our house. My wife couldn't boil an egg. I can make a good vegetarian lasagna with broccoli, red peppers and onions - the secret being LOADS of cheese! Not a great baker though. I'd love to have the courage to try making my own bread or even scones.
Made a loaf of bread in my old Griswold Dutch Oven the other day. Can't beat warm homemade bread. Watched the wife made Lefse yesterday, she told me to "go away" must have sampled one too many rounds.
It is sort of like what is called a biscuit in the USA but often made sweeter though not always. Wikipedia says that both pronunciations are correct
Looking for some advice, got some Haddock to cook up. Bottled tarter in America is meh.. What would you all add or subtract from my version. mayo little sugar lemon juice carpers couple drops of hot sauce
Yes, due to an childhood accident only have 3 full fingers on that hand so sometime spelling errors happen and get missed. Yes capers.
I have only one ear from burns accident, so understand. Different but adapting to changes is something hard to comprehend unless experienced similiar even though different body parts etc
