Have you gained weight during the Covid pandemic? I know a lot of people that have, myself included. I gained 15 pounds, but went on a strict diet of mostly meat and cheese, and lost all the weight.

I gained a lot of weight. I wasn’t too bothered but then a ring I never took off got way too tight for my middle finger when it used to be loose. I now wear it on alternating ring fingers because it’s too tight for them too. I knew it was bad when my fingers gained weight.

I did initially, so this time last year when we went into our first lockdown, but from around last May onwards I started going out for a walk everyday and eating lass junk snacks. I now weigh less than I did before the pandemic and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to continue working from home. I think I’d possibly put some of it back on if I had to work in an office full time again.

Mine did sort of a curve over winter (when I couldn’t ride my bike outside). It’s starting to ease back down to where it was in September.

I've actually lost weight, which is worrying because I've always been on the skinny side. Currently I keep toeing the line of healthy and underweight, switching categories quite frequently. I'm actually trying to gain weight. Unfortunately, I'm also under a lot of stress with finishing University and I have health issues which mean that eating at the wrong time (or the wrong thing) can make me quite ill and cause considerable pain. So I have to stick to a dietary routine and if I don't then I lose weight quickly and / or get sick.

Fortunately, I've been granted some more time with work extensions and I've been working on improving my self care. Such as keeping the stress down, waking up on time so I have time to eat regularly and don't skip meals, and taking regular breaks. I'm not always successful, but I think that I'm definitely in a better state than I was in recent previous months. All - nighters are out of the question at this point, I don't think my body could take any more of that. I'm trying to work a 9 - 5 or sometimes a 10 - 6 kind of schedule, but it doesn't always go that way.

yes! I had lost 30 pounds prior to the pandemic. Gained most of it back when I went from a position that requires standing all day to sitting. I am now back in my regular (standing) position, so hopefully I'll lose it all again

The mirror images of me before covid and now are extremely different! I gained 21 pounds! My stomach became a mountain of chocolate and crisps!

Needless to say I’m on a strict low carb diet now and I’ve lost 8 of those pounds.

I was fast turning into Nelly the bloody Elephant!

Stopped working in construction due to covid, developed a bit of weight around my stomach area. My bf calls it a "speed bump"

I haven't gained weight during the pandemic in part as I have kept to my regular walks. I have actually increased my average walking time and speed. I was and still am determined not to gain weight.

I actually started walking in the beginning of the pandemic and exercising so nope. I don’t have a scale though so I can’t tell too accurately. But, I ate too many sweets over Christmas and feel like I gained some weight, then lost it when I had a stressful month not too long ago lol.

Yep, I have piled weight on this past year and seem to be hovering around 210lbs now. The pandemic is one reason, but my diet has been more restrictive too and soft cakes and breads have been much easier to manage. I'm hoping all of that will change by the summer. My aim is to get down to around 170lbs through a combination of diet and increased exercise.

I did sort of a bell curve. I lost last spring and summer from a strict diet and lots of bike riding. Then I gained that back over winter between the holidays, election stress eating, and it being harder to get enough exercise. Now that it’s spring, I’m almost back down to last summer’s low again. Part of my problem last year was I kept taking a week off. I’m going to try to not do that this year. I’ve actually been working on my weight since I came out 2 years ago (I’m down 55lbs overall), so I’d like to be done and onto a maintenance routine,

I excercise a lot to relieve the frustration, so I gained a lot of muscle mass, but not fat. I have been soaring up the ranks in karate. It seems I'm turning into a war machine in case covid will make us fight for food in the end. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Another thing was I became insulin resistant after gaining about 15 pounds, but I went on a diet, and lost all the weight, and am thankfully no longer insulin resistant.

I've actually lost weight, because my gym was shut down, and i started riding my bike more.

What is insulin resistance like? Does it have physical symptoms? My doctor screened me for it, and claimed I might have it, because I have irregular periods, but I'm super thin and it seems like an issue of people who are overweight from what I read.

I didn’t have any symptoms. When my told me that I had it, was so shocked. I immediately changed my eating habits. I had gained about 10-15 pounds over the holidays. I went on a strict diet and lost all the weight. I eat a high protein low carb diet now.
