    Hello Members,

This question is for members who are single (like me).

Do you feel sad or hurt if people ask you whether you are in a relationship?

I do feel sad if people ask me so. It's like their question makes me get reminded that I don't have a boyfriend. :frowning2:

My voice does get a bit choked by the sadness but I try my best to smile and reply them that I'm single. But I guess they can sense that I'm sad about it.

It's like you are trying your best to live your life happily by overcoming the lack of relationship but you often reminded of having no partner and you start feeling down.

It is mostly ignorant people who ask this if they're only interested to analyze someone. I don't think it's that bad of a question if someone is interested in you and wants to know your status OR maybe if it is meant as a compliment - "I can't believe you're single" - like that.

This question can be hurtful to a lot of people. Sexual orientation isn't even part of it. It's this way for everyone. As the years go by, people seem to be bothered by it more because people use this question to pass judgment.

There are a lot of decent people who handle this better. They know you live alone and don't ask about who you're seeing or not seeing if you don't bring up anyone. The way they spend time with you focuses on other topics.

Yes. I was married for 18 years and the question feels like rubbing salt in the wound. Luckily I hardly ever get asked.

Well I’m not totally out yet but it does make me sad when I see others out with their boyfriend. I know it’s my own fault
