Actually that weird deafening silence is because snow does have muffling properties. It's basically nature's sound proof foam board. Some could argue that the lack of noise is still a white noise but that's a separate conversation.

And snow fall itself has been shown to relax most animals, including humans.

That’s good to know musicteach.I know i guess it only depends on how it deeply affects us in any senses we have ,sight or hearing just whatever makes us sleep from the beauty of nature is remarkable.

So my son is blind and so of course his other senses have strengthened to make up for it. When it snows, he'll sit and listen to it. And it does make a sound, but it's normally undetectable by human ears — it's too low. Which that in of itself is fascinating to me because of his blindness, his ears are more sensitive including things outside of normal human hearing. He can even hear sounds that are just outside of the normal human range as far as pitch goes.

Wow thats fascinating. I know it kinda ironical how us are born with all senses but not even as nearly as we call it perfect as we imagined unlike how your son does is like superhuman power.

The thing about senses is that they balance. So they always have to equal 100%. Split by five, it's 20% each. If you lose one, it's 25% each, so it comes up a bit for each.

Yeah its kind of balance in a way all bits of missing part is apparently not entirely missing but added to other parts that might make up for it.

Ocean waves. I would love to be at the beach right now and that is the closest I will get for a while. So it is relaxing to listen to it and imagine that I'm there as I fall asleep.

Maybe not a white noise, but listening to Closer from Joy Division always make me relax and I always fall asleep with it. May sound a little weird, but it just helps me to calm down and not stress out before closing my eyes

Nothing at all. I'm hard of hearing, and I take my hearing aids off before I go to bed, letting me hear pretty much nothing at all. Except maybe my cat, meowing at nothing from across the room.

I will leave them on though, if I'm just taking a nap. In which case I'll probably turn on some gentle music to listen to as I doze off.

A machine that plays the sound of a brook with birds chirping lightly. During the day I have one that plays just regular white noise.

Music... Keeps me from thinking of things I don't need to worry about at the moment.
