I was using Google Play to play music on my phone, but apparently that's gone. They've replaced it with Youtube Music, which I hate. Like, I can't group albums by the same artist together? I have to manually look for the next album? All music by one artist is listed alphabetically, and not in the order on the album? It doesn't play if I turn off my screen? I don't want to look through the internet or Youtube for my music; my route to work takes me through a lengthy patch of no signal, so I need to be able to just play the music that I've already bought and paid for. So... are there any decent alternatives? Preferably ad-free, even if I have to buy the app (though I don't want a monthly subsription either). I just want to listen to my music...
I am a apple user, but back in the day when i had an adnroid I used to use BlackPlayer to listen to music. Freaking amazing, one of the best out there in terms of customization, tagging, etc and there was a VLC plugin for it which supported music videos too. Stellio was also a good one too but i'm unsure if it still exists or if its still good (i used it back in 2016, it had support for folders, themes, etc) If your phone is rooted then you may be interested in using youtube vanced, which allows background playback, add-free, and downloading of music and videos with 'new pipe' (or whatever the plugin du jour is, again i havent used it in a couple years so i don't know how good it is today)
