Hello! I am a Mom from Kansas USA who has looked for a site like this for a while. I have had friends who are “out” but as far as I know (duh) no one else. I have been horrified at stories of families abandoning their children because of their inherent selves (kids not families) I want to know what I can say or do to show my support. I have read about Mom hugs at Pride events, but not much else. I want to be a part of the support system for (mostly) young people who are in need of an ear, shoulder or most any other body part. I am likely to be one of those people who needs to educated a lot—but I am here to learn. I look forward to “meeting” y’all, learning and supporting all and generally making the world a better place!!!
Greetings, fellow Kansan! I'm touched by your desire to help LGBTQ youth. Your admission that you don't know everything about these issues, but that you want to learn about what you can do to help, speaks volumes about you. Reading about other people's experiences here is an awesome way to learn about the struggles that LGBTQ people go through. Your support is much needed and much appreciated.
