Have you ever dyed your hair? If you have, what colour, or colours did you go for? Was there a particular reason for dying your hair? What was the reaction of other people?

Hot pink. Wanted to see if it looked good; it didn't. Everyone's reaction was a sarcastic, "nice hair."

As a kid, a couple friends and I wanted to dye our hair at home for a fun little experience. My mom strictly banned it though aha.

Since then, I've wanted to dye my hair a silver or strawberry blonde.

I made the youthful mistake of getting a streak in my hair when I was in Highschool (Grade 11). I was a naive 16 year old and my parents gave me 1000 rupees (Around $22), to get whatever hair treatment I wanted, so I forewent a hair cut, blow dry and hair wash to simply get a streak in my hair. I had dozens of options and gold looked cool in the brochure. The result was less than pretty. Gold streaks and spikes on black hair do not look very good. Even by 2006 standards. I was mercilessly teased in School for a month, till my hair grew long enough to get the streaks trimmed off.

I used to dye my hair to get rid of the grays, but I realized that for now just keeping it short does a good enough job.

I’ve thought about it, but I haven’t done it as I think I have a nice hair color naturally especially in the sun. If my hair goes grey while I’m young, I will most likely dye it.

Back when my hair was short(abt 4-5 yrs ago), I got it dyed entirely deep purple. It wasn't designed to, but the color mix that I picked changed between blueberry, purple, ocean blue, and teal depending on the light. At the time I was living in Cali and doing lots of watersports. It almost lasted 5 weeks. I have one surviving picture.

My hair changed color from blonde to brown on its own, starting around when I was maybe 6. I've never tried dying it myself, but I am interested in it... even if I can't decide what color.

But back in the early 2000s my teen brother wanted to dye his hair, but mom wouldn't let him. She allowed him to do a spiked up, blue-frosted tips style that was en vogue at the time.

Bleached mine twice and dyed it purple once. In that respect I had cool parents.

Yes, it was always a sign of relatively cool parents. :relaxed:

Highlights were “in” when I was at school, but I didn’t have any myself. I‘ve had my hair dyed several times since, but nothing wildly exciting, just different shades of brown. To be honest, I don’t especially enjoy going to the hairdressers and getting it dyed can take hours, which puts me off getting it done more often.

My blonde hair started growing out brown when I was about 11 but it didn’t dye it then. When I was 15 I used a temporary mahogany dye and I couldn’t tell the difference. I’ve had highlights a few times but the last time someone offered to pay for highlights for me I declined because I hate sitting in the hairdressers for so long and I like my natural colour. My mother and sister dye their hair, my sister is naturally blonde but decides to bleach it anyway.

I dyed my hair to be reddish-brown/ auburn. I had trouble with superlice (Gross, I know) and my mom found out that hair dye would kill them. I also liked the thought of dyeing my hair anyways. I picked that specific color because my hair was dark brown with red that only showed when in the sun, so it wasn't too extreme for the first time. People really liked it. I liked it. I dyed it several more times the same color after that. It's not dyed right now, but I might do it again.

I dyed my hair several times during my emo teenage years. And now I realise that my natural black color fits my long wavy hair the most.

I've dyed my hair purple and a natural red. I just felt like it, I guess. I dye it a lot, but it's usually just to freshen up the fading dye lol. People don't care too much.

Yes. Sometimes. I grew up with a head of dark brown hair and liked it. It's now becoming a mixed salt and pepper. The bargain hair foam that you comb in makes it look fake. The hair dye product that's the same color as your hair which you wash in and shower out does a better job but it can be messy. I do it every now and then. People don't really react, at least to my face. A friend of mine with black hair who started getting some gray strands got me going with this.

When my dad got older, my mom used to put in the lotion or some product to bring his hair back to his darker color and I thought it looked better on him.

    Ok, now, what about you?!?

My natural colour is dark brown very close to black. I dyed my hair brown without bleaching my natural hair first, because some colors were supposed to show without it. I dyed the bottom of my hair, so the colors would peek out from the bottom. It would appear more clearly if I tie it back. I thought it would look more natural this way, but the problem is that no one notices it...even if I tie it into a ponytail:sweat_smile:

I have dyed my hair to copper, violet, dark red, light blue and white. Currently I still keep it white. My natural hair colour is very light brown/dark blonde.
