I know there are a lot of threads like this already but I am just looking for friends in the LGBTQ+ community. I'm currently in college (which is going...interesting...thanks to COVID-19). I am lucky that I have a lot of accepting friends in my life at school already but, due to everything going on right now, I had to come back to my hometown which is, well, less accepting. (My family knows and are cool with it after some time adjusting but the suburb as a whole is relatively homophobic). I have a lot of great people in my life so I do not want to sound selfish or anything but I'm hoping to make some friends who are specifically LGBTQ+ like me if that makes sense. I do want to warn people that, although I am a lesbian and go to college in a large city, I am still not the most knowledgeable when it comes to LGBTQ+ stuff so if I say anything offensive, I promise it's on accident. Please feel free to correct me. I'm just...I don't know...uneducated, I guess. Anyway, this post has become super long but I hope that I can start some friendships.
So I’m not currently in college, but am looking at re-enrolling soon, which would be a Doctorate in Music Education. I have a Bachelor’s in Music Education and a Bachelor’s in Performances on trumpet. Then I finished my Masters in Music Education last spring.
Music is a difficult major. Music theory is a....lot. I'm amazed that people understand it. Props to you!
Haha I’m a music teacher, actually. High school band director. And yes, I agree, some of the music theory can be quite challenging. Time signatures such as 15/16 shouldn’t exist.
Don't worry I think that's perfectly natural when you first join but people here are really friendly.
