It does seem to be getting worse. Whether that's actual neurological degradation, or Trump becoming increasingly desperate because he's seeing that his facade is crumbling... hard to say.

Unfortunately I think he's already won 2020. He could get up to the podium and scream the N-word and the bulk of Americans would still vote for him like they did for Reagan, who was an even bigger piece of shit than Trump.

His behaviour and reactions to events, whether they be tied to him, domestic or international, do seem to be much more bizarre and impulsive than they have ever been. He always had a few screws lose but I'd concur with the argument made in the article.

If opinion polls are to be believed, it seems that there is some hope that it might not come to him winning the next election. Of course, there will always be Americans who will vote for him (including LGBTQ+ voters, sadly), hopefully though the majority of voters will come to their senses before marking their x.

It’s scary to watch his mental state degrade while his ego keeps going up. When he came into office in 2017 I thought he might do some good things (as crazy as it sounds he was actually pretty bipartisan during the inauguration), but he’s just continued to bully people and create controversy after controversy,

I do think there is hope that he will not be re-elected. Unfortunately, he has the power of the incumbency behind him, but I'm starting to think that people are fed up with his bullying and bizarre behavior. It will depend a lot on who the Dems nominate, but time will tell.

I just hope americans elect other person. Hopefully Bernie Sanders or someone with similar ideas, but at the very least someone who is less problematic (to say the least) than Trump.

The fact that Trump is the president of the US not only causes internal problems, but it also adds more strenght to the agenda of crazy politicians in other countries, like "Tropical Trump".

I doubt that the Dems will win mostly because their state of affairs seems like a circus, I'm not that up on things but having to fit ten people on a stage isn't a good look if you want to galvanize support for your side.

As for Trump, I don't hate the man but pity him. I see someone who is lost but trying to tread his head above water in the only was he knows how. I guess it's the same for anyone else like him, because I used to be like them.

That aside it looks like he might win again. Even if it's hateful rhetoric it's consistent and powerful and that's all you need to get support.

I believe nothing I read anymore. I voted for Trump in 2016 because I was drunk out of my mind and listening to a free subscription to Alex Jones my Dad kept pushing on me and I honestly, truly believed that Hillary Clinton was running a child sex slave ring under a pizza parlor which was the ultimate deciding factor in me voting for Trump. I was completely lost. Now that I've found my identity as an old school socialist I feel nothing but shame and regret in my actions, but I can vote for whoever wins the Democratic primaries. Hopefully that's either Yang or Bernie, but it will probably be Biden, who I don't like at all, but still, I'd happily vote for Biden over Trump in 2020.

Honestly, the following choices would be better than Trump:
    • Sarah Palin
    • George W. Bush
    • The "Rent is Too Damn High" guy
    • Ben Carson
In other words... every American over 18, who isn't an utter imbecile with an IQ above the temperature of the Atlantic Ocean, needs to get their lazy ass to the polls and vote for whomever the Dems nominate, even if it were one of the above. We cannot afford a single vote wasted for narcissistic asshat Jill Stein, or any other ridiculous third party candidate, and voting for anyone other than the nominated Dem is basically voting from a lack of privilege; our fellow citizens of color do not have this choice, nor do those who are trans, women who care about their autonomy, or anyone else who cares about the world.

Edit: Yikes! A million typos from quick typing on a keyboard I don't normally use. Sorry folks. Now fixed.

I love the way you presented this argument @Chip. Well put.

My instincts tell me that Elizabeth Warren is going to be the nominee. If so, she being a former prosecuting attorney, is going to go after Trump in a very clever, bait the trap with raw red meat, way. If you've ever known a prosecuting attorney personally, you know they are very good (clever) at setting traps.

I'm honestly hopeful it will be Warren. I think she stands a good chance. We probably need a progressive to bring in the lazy, selfish twentysomethings (not talking about *all* twentysomethings, just the ones who fit that description) who won't bother to vote unless it's someone who particularly excites them. That will come at the cost of some moderates, but I think Trump/Pence has killed the idea that only moderates can get elected.

A woman will never win the presidency. Not in the United States. All we do in America is keep women down. Trump will throw so much money into crushing Warren if she's the nominee she won't ever stand a chance. It'll be Hillary all over again. Like I said, Trump could get up at that podium today, call Obama the N-word, then devolve into a nonsense rant about "fake news" and people will come crawling out of holes to vote for him. But voting doesn't make a difference. If it did, they wouldn't let us do it. The super-rich elite make the decision of who wins, that's why Trump won. Ordinary votes from ordinary people don't count. It's all decided by a shadow organization and a woman will never be president while America remains a capitalist hellhole.

Well... I don't disagree, but many (perhaps most) people felt the same about having a black man, and we shattered that barrier.

I think Hillary lost because people simply weren't interested in the same old same old staus quo. Trump offered something unique and different. So would Warren. That's where the difference lies. In any other year I'd agree with you. Sanders could be good also. And Mayor Pete would probably be a great president, but I don't think he's electable, at least not at this point.

The Repubs, Russians, and dirty money will throw so much money into crushing anyone, so that isn't an issue. They're on a path to destroying the country and completing the turn to a plutocracy, and they won't be interested in stopping. Fortunately, money by itself hasn't been shown to be effective, so there's t least a fighting change.

Honestly, and sadly, I think if he did that, it would actually *increase* his popularity among not only his base, but a lot of closet racists who look and act like normal decent people on the outside. Fortunately, those asshats are still in the minority. As long as the self-centered people who only want to vote for a candidate they really like can be convinced to get their lazy, narcissistic asses to the polls.[/quote]

Obama is an establishment Democrat. He didn't do much in terms of a socialist change other than get gay marriage legalized. Sure, he took out Bin Laden, but did he end homelessness? Did he improve the welfare state? Did he give us fifteen dollars an hour for work? What about Medicare for all? No, because he's a corporate establishment Democrat who didn't care so much about change as keeping the status quo. Even the shadow organizations will elect an establishment Democrat. I'm not voting in the primaries because the shadow organizations have already made their pick for who Trump will place upon the sacrificial altar. And Trump has already won 2020 because America has embraced his insanity and because Trump is making the shadow organizations richer and richer with all his tax cuts for the mega-rich.

Mark my words, if we don't embrace true socialism, the establishment corporate Democrats and the GOP will have us all eating out of the dumpsters behind Red Lobster by 2024.

The bulk of Americans didn't even vote for him the first time. It's clear he's unpopular. Democrats can win as long as they don't fuck it up, though that is something they are experts at, so I am indeed concerned.

Agreed that Reagan was worse, because everything he did was with that classic grin on his face, and that "aww shucks" sense of humor. Other than immigration, Trump isn't terribly different, but he puts an ugly face on policies the US has had for decades.

Bernie Sanders seems the best. Some pick Warren because she seems more 'reasonable' and hasnt had the massive propaganda campaign against them like Sanders has. But, make no mistake, if Sanders drops out, they will come after Warren just as hard and she will seem 'tainted' too.

Its time for the most radical change possible.
