I'm not a furry but kinda aware of it. Not being offensive but curious, what is it for? Why does guys put on the suit or head? Do different ones mean different things?
Hey there In general terms, furries are a community of fans of anthropomorphic animals. We enjoy art (drawings, music, animations, suits, stories, etc.) and creations about this subject. The fursuits (how they are called) usually represent a character created by the person wearing it. It is called a "fursona" (your "furry persona"). I don't have a deep story yet (working on it), but my fursona is an hyena warlock. He tries to be all "dark" and terrifying, but ends up being too clumsy to scare anyone (and he is soft-hearted, even if he never admits it). In other words, basically it is a character you create. Some people have many characters (the "OCs"), and their main "fursona" (main character). The "main" character usually represents a part of their personality (for instance, i consider myself clumsy, but i try to exaggerate this in my fursona). It is very fun to create a fursona, and it is a good way to exercise some creativity! In general terms, it is a very friendly community, and it is very LGBT friendly. The main objective is to have fun and produce/appreciate different pieces of art, like the ones i mentioned. Sure, as in any community, there are bad apples, but most people are nice and friendly. I hope to save enough money to comission some art and maybe a fursuit for me one day.
