This site allows you to enter your number of sexual partners, and approximate number of partners they've had, and shows you how many indirect sexual contacts you've had.

If this doesn't drive home the message of the importance of safer sex and using condoms every single time, then I don't know what does.

This does drive home a point. The safety part is not the funny part. The math part is.

I question the math. As I have had four people I have had sex with, all of my partners had three previous partners. Math isn't my strong suit, but 4x3 is 12 not 252, unless it is assuming that all of my partner's partners were whores and had sex with more than 3 people.

They have a link to the methodology on the study. They are probably making assumptions on the people your partners had partners with, based in part on how many partners you've had and such. I'm sure it isn't perfect but it does give one pause.

The number of partners your partners had should be a random generated number because how do you really know? Either way. That chart makes me sad. According to the graph I have had exposure to more people than live in my state.

I wouldn't even try. Probably blow a fuse somewhere.
No I'm not a slut, just had more sexual contact as a child than as an adult. Could only guess what the others were up to.

Are all the states in the U.S. listed by population?

The site definetly is biased and inaccurate. I think it's based on way too many assumptions (assumptions on how many people you sexual partners have had, assumptions on sex patterns based on geographical location and population), it asked me my city. I entered my hometown first even though I haven't lived there and 99% of my sexual encounters have been abroad in different countries (so not sure how the science applies to me) did a guess of how many sexual partners they had had (being generous for some and probably under counting for others as it's an average) and it gave me 9000+ people the first time around. Re-did it entering my current City (in the US) with the same date and suddenly I have been exposed to 26000+ people and the equivalent of 100% of the population of a town in Virginia.

Why would me living in the US add 17000 people to my total count?

I think they forget to ask a massive important data which would be age.

Let's say I am 18, (I am not but I am not too far off to make this point irrelevant) it's not uncommon for some 18yo to still be a virgin or on the contrary to have had lots of sexual partner but I would think most 18 years old would have had 1-2 sex partners, even if those sex partners had 1 or 2 themselves you can't really go back that much before they get into very underage/young territory/probably too young to have had more than one sex partner at most if any. Yet it seems like the site would still give them a score of a few thousands and is based on users having a certain age with their dating circle having had a certain time to have a long enough sex life to build up such high score.

If the X number of people I have had sex with lead up to me having been exposed to 26000 people, I am very concerned about the age most of those were having sex at. And what it says about the US vs my home country (where me doing the same thing would actually see me less exposed).

I agree condoms/protection should always be used but I don't think this site makes itself even remotely believable and almost undermines the point.

That site is bullshit. It said that I’ve had 25,137,931 partners. That’s a lot of fucking people. Pun intended.

Yeah the math is definitely messed up. I entered in 1 sexual partner, and said that 1 person had 100 other partners. It now says by sleeping with that one person I've been exposed to 10,101,010,101 people. The total population of Earth is 2 billion less than that. I highly doubt sleeping with one member of the 100+ club exposes you to everyone on the planet haha.

It also doesn’t seem to take into account that people tend to run in the same circles so. It’s possible that several people have had sex with the same people so some of those partners overlap and would reduce the number significantly.

I have never had sex outside of marriage. This calculator assumes my wife’s before-me-time dating has exposed me to hundreds of sexual partners.
This could be so misused in conservative circles!
In my upbringing this is akin to “purity tests” for heterosexuals, and the very not sex-positive messages about virginity, saving oneself for marriage, “boys” having to be careful that they only marry “good girls”, and “girls” having to be ashamed of their “reputations” or blood donation centers turning away for lifetime (until recently) any man who ever (since 1978) had sex with another man, even once.
I don’t like it. I hope it doesn’t catch on.

I don’t know how to figure out the average of all my sexual partner’s previous partners though.

For better or worse, my number is zero. I've never had sexual intercourse with any man or woman. The closest I got was getting to second base with a girl in high school.

:joy: mine is probably close to that. I honestly have no way of knowing how many partners people had before me so... the entire city of Los Angeles works for me.

Out of curiosity I had to see what mine said... Lol. And its a little over 3 million.. And I've only had 1 partner. I agree, very inaccurate.

Wow, I barely even walk out the front door and I have been with my entire town.

While I question the math, I can appreciate the message. The AIDS crisis started as I was finishing grade school, and things got bad fast.
