Let's talk nails/nail length

I personally like my nails long but as i have gotten older im trying to keep them trimmed because i have noticed some people think long nails are unhygienic but i love having long nails and im the opposite i think short nails are inconvenient XD lol total opposites

 

It depends on my mood ( which varies a LOT ). I like to keep it slightly longer that short if I want French nails. I let it grow to medium length if I am going for a brownish nude nail polish, I like to keep it long if I am going pinkish nude or soft corals.

 

Mid-length without nail polish. The lesbian stereotype is short nails but I'm not sexually active right now.

 

As short as possible. I do not understand how people function with long nails. I had never thought about it much, until I had a really busy month and kept forgetting to cut my nails. By the end of the month it was becoming way harder to do even simple things.

While writing with a pen my nails kept stabbing into my fingers uncomfortably, and typing was inconvenient because the nail would cause my finger to not land comfortably on the keys which slowed my typing considerably.

My nails were not even very long either, so when I see people with those artificial 3 inch long curved nails I’m just confused how they are able to do anything with their hands.

 

Typing and playing guitar constrain my nails to be short.

Note I'm not a picking-hand-long-nail guitarist. My roommate in college was one though, and he kept his right hand nails manicured and polished and reinforced. Sounded great. But guitar is just a hobby; bass & keys are more my thing and so it's short nails all around.

An entertaining side-note: another good friend, drop-dead-gorgeous female, told me that bad toenails were a dating deal-breaker for her. Just sayin', you toe-owners out there.

 

I guess my nails would qualify as mid-length. I can't stand the feeling of them when they're too short, and when they start to get long, it can be annoying to try and type. (I find it kind-of funny to see a person with really long fingernails who's a cashier at some place like a store or fast-food place and have to use touch-screen computers). As far as paint goes, I paint them hot pink.

 

I’ve always kept mine short. I also don’t like nail polish. I have kept them this way all my life even before I knew I was gay. So for me, yeah the stereotype about lesbians is true lol.

 

I like to use nail polish sometimes and find long nails inconvenient and... I break them too.

 

I keep my nails long. It makes it easier to write on my steno machine. It does not feel good when you have to write and you have a hang nail.

 

I do a lot of anal stuff, so long nails is a no.. I dont care for nail polish, my boyfriend paints his black sometimes, but I'm not a fan of that look, it just seems.. too goth, if you know what I mean.

 

I don't like having long nails as I'm constantly aware of them and feel kind of gross. However, cutting my nails is one of my absolute least favorite activities so they get longer than I'd prefer. I usually cut them very short and then leave them alone for about two weeks.

 

Personally, i cant stand having my nails short! they have to be mid length to long for me otherwise it just feels so weird. i have had this opinion and had them this way since i can remember. i just like the way they look, and painting them every once in a while is kind of fun. i can see why some people want short nails, but i cant stand having them at all. whenever i trim mine its never to below medium length.

 

I keep my nails short. Its too easy to collect dirt under there, and I've OCD when it comes to the sides being perfect. A lot more functional.

I play the ukulele so I keep the nails on my left hand as short as possible, while my right ones are a bit longer. I don't paint them, but sometimes I draw a little black dot on each of them.

 

Dirty finger nails make me want to gag, so the shorter the better for me.

I also think short nails are better for those more intimate moments in the bedroom. Do you really want your gf/bf/partner doing intimate things to you with long talons? Maybe if you are into scratching, but...

Too dysphoric to ever paint my nails or grow them out. I know a lot of other trans guys do, but I can't bring myself to be comfortable. Plus having shorter nails that aren't painted help me pass more, which is the most important thing to me.

 

Mid length with no nail polish. They used to be super short but I gave up picking at them for lent a couple of years ago so now they grow longer. They look better a little longer but I still couldn’t care less if I break a nail.
