The band against me has helped me through some hard times. Laura Jane Grace is such a huge influence to me.

My all-time go to is "Girls/Girls/Boys" by Panic! At The Disco, but there's "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga and also "Coming Clean" by Green Day

I just checked out her song P***y is God. As a lesbian, a religion geek and a fervent pagan devotee of the Divine Feminine, I really approve. For all the reasons mentioned.

I do like the song and think that it is interesting but i think that relationship should be focus on love rather than sex. When you love a person, you fall in love with that person soul rather than their sexual organs. This song kind of objectify woman.

I find this song empowering. It might not be exactly as I'd want it if I were the one writing the lyrics, but it carries a powerful message, beyond the sexual undertones: there is a sacredness about our body that it brings forth and celebrates. This woman says to her lover and genitals that she's God. This might be shocking and vulgar for us to hear as it goes against our notions of puritanism and shaming and just expresses an experience. We might not be able to perceive this beyond our own desires and conditioning and the way this song puts its message is definitely sexual, but hardly degrading. Again, it might just be all an elaborate pun for lesbian love-making and not something clearly spiritual. However words have power and this song in its way unites spiritual and sexual elements.

When you mention God as a She and bring forth her vagina (you can search it, symbols of vagina have been around at least since prehistory) this does have a certain effect. People have been actively worshiping representations of genitals and treated them with respect and fear. It could be our way of changing the way think about our bodies.

I think this could be an opportunity to re-evaluate the link of body-God-sexuality. At least that's my perspective as someone who studies what people did and worshiped before Christianity took over the world. In the end, why do we need to find our genitals degrading?

(Sorry for the long post, I got carried away).

I recently discovered a song called "go to hell." by Luhx. I really like the general message of not needing to be forgiven for being who you are and loving who you love. It also always makes me really happy when songs say very clearly that they're about same-sex attraction rather than just hinting at it.

Nervously by the Pet Shop Boys is one of the finest rites of passage songs, isn’t it? I think that most people on this forum have either been in this position or fantasised about being in it. Simple ideas are sometimes the best ones.

I don’t listen to Kitchens Of Distinction much these days – Drive That Fast still sounds terrific, mind – but they wrote a handful of gay-related songs. Breathing Fear, for instance, touches on the sensitive issue of gay bashing with great skill, while the sonically intense On Tooting Broadway Station mourns the breakup of a same-sex relationship.

Both of these songs were released in 1992, and most indie bands that flirt with the British mainstream consciousness end up attracting quite a few laddish fans, so this lyrical approach was especially fearless.
