I must be crazy. I really need a job, but I applied without putting gender info on the profile, with sex of ID and birth name on the cv (because it's mandatory) but with chosen name as middle name inside brackets on the profile. I have no hrt, no binder, nothing. It's a clothes shop, I hope that knowing the fashion of both genders will persuade them to hire me (?).
I don't know if it's a victory. Maybe it was stupid. Maybe not. *nervous laughing*

so I went to our annual santa clause parade (Christmas) on sunday, I went as part of Pflag and some of our male members dressed in drag as snow princesses and such, kids were saying look its a boy in a dress... the response was yes it is.... my personal victory is that no one pointed at me. I passed perfectly.

so, I had another round of laser yesterday, and there was hardly any pain, because a great deal of the hair is gone. and she went over my face twice with the regular wand, and then with a radio frequency wand for light or blonde hair. I usually go and put on make up after but yesterday I went to coffee and then shopping with a naked face. no one batted an eye, and my friends that I ran into couldn't believe that my face was bare. so victory for me.

I finally came out to my family... and it went relatively well. My parents were pretty surprised, but not entirely. They weren’t thrilled, but said they’ll always love me, and that they just need time to process, which I get. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I know there’s still a long road ahead, but I already feel happier and more confident!!

I wore my ace pride scarf to a coffee shop yesterday and the barista said, “I like your scarf, is it ace or aro?” I said ace, and she said, “I’m ace too!” I high fived her, she’s the only other ace I’ve ever met in real life, it felt good.

As for my gender, I’ve picked out my new name, Emory, and I’m starting to build up my stash of boys’/androgynous clothing. I’m going to clean out all the old stuff from my closet soon and just start over.

I had a dream last night about top surgery and woke up feeling really hopeful. Just five more months of waiting...

My mom got me boxer briefs for Christmas (she gave them to me early because she thought I'd be embarrassed if she gave them to me in front of the rest of the family), and she said that, after Christmas, she and my younger sister are going take me shopping for a packer!

My grandmother remembers that I like androgynous/masculine clothing
over anything else and she got my a shirt to suit my style!

Normally, I would get the same thing my sisters get, but this was so different and it made me so happy!!!

Merry Christmas, everyone! (it is still Eve for me)

I try to avoid public gendered bathrooms, usually when I’m going to get a coach at London Victoria I stop by the cafe Nero opposite the station to grab a coffee and use the restroom but today there was a que. I didn’t have much time so had to go to the one in the station that as a 30p charge and a monitor.

I put my 30p in the machine and went through the already open side gate as I had a suitcase. Head down I just walked toward the bathroom wanting to dash in and out as quickly as possible.

‘Hey excuse me!’ The Monitor shouted at me. I assumed he thought I hadn’t paid the fair and tried slipping past. ‘The men’s is that way.’

I thanked him for correcting me and went to the gents. I guess that’s like the flip side of what I dread as ftm.

I'd say it's been a pretty good Christmas this year. I didn't get anything "too" feminine, got a product marketed towards men, and my mom asked if I could use any of my brother's old bath/shower/shave products. I'd call that a victory because I'm sure if it were a year ago, or even a few months ago, she probably wouldn't have even asked me and just chucked them out.

A friend has my chosen name on my number on her phone. Which is funny, because irl I get misgendered all the time. I need to be patient...

Not a victory, but I had a dream where I was singing in a baritone's voice. The voice resonated a lot in my chest. A wonderful feeling.

To echo what I believe you once told me, you'll get that baritone my friend. And it is a wonderful feeling.

So, i’m having top surgery in 6 days.

And my 67yo mum just sent me this:

‘I know you are nervous but i am with you all the way. No more binders and hateing your body. I am totally with you on this. Love you good night xxxx’

    In tears.

Its just really starting to sink in now too.

Today is my three year anniversary of coming out. I cannot believe I've made it this far. In the time since I've come out publicly, started on T, and now everyone knows me as Alec. To think that three years ago I was scared I'd never transition, never be accepted, never succeed in school. And here I am a full time college student, employed, supported by friends and my church, and in a few months to have top surgery. It feels surreal.

So a couple of months ago I went for a full make over and photoshoot.

A friend of mine who I'm out to saw some of the photos including the one above. She said it was the most natural and relaxed she had ever seen me in a photo.

A cashier today called me mam before taking a closer look at me and “correcting” herself. She apologized, and said that my hair threw her off. I told her that it was no big deal, but she felt pretty bad. So, even though it was only for a moment, and I was dressed relatively masculine, I read as a woman to someone today, which feels pretty awesome.

I got new clothes and look pretty ok in them. I have been looking like a hobo after years of just thinking about hiding the curves. I was such an extreme case that I just had to wear whatever didn't show too much. I still had to limit my movements a lot. I got too used to that I think. I got too used to thinking that nothing fits me no matter what I do.

My new clothes sit right and make me look more masculine. I look like a regular dude in them! They are my size too. My old clothes are all 2-3 sizes too big.

I remember seeing a guy wearing a shirt I had too. It was years ago. I got extremely dysphoric because I looked so different and could do nothing about it. Now I look more like that guy. I didn't even realize how much my body shape had changed and how much muscle mass I have gained. I have avoided looking at myself.

I actually feel excited to go out there. I realized I haven't felt like I am even a human being for a long time. It feels weird to not to hate what I look like.

I found a trans support group in my area, and I've just reached out to them. They even have lists of therapists and endocrinologists, several of whom work for the health system where I already get my other medical care (I also work there).
