Hey all. I'm new here. My girlfriend is struggling with leaving the Mormon church and coming out to everyone she knows. Needless to say the guilt is palpable. She has anxiety dreams most nights. Her trauma is real! I find most major religions to be so damaging, and would love your thoughts on the subject. I wasn't Mormon myself, but am helping to tell her story and connect her to others. I'm in this constant struggle of wanting to be in a relationship but at the same time I love being single. :/

So we're doing this Secret Santa thing at work, and the other day I realized I forgot wrapping paper. I have a roll of paper (just plain-ass white paper) sitting around, so I drew Christmas lights and trees and ornaments on it, just so it wasn't plain.

Apparently the person who got my gift loved the wrapping paper and she decided to keep it along with the gift. This is according to my boss. Also, apparently I'm not such a good "Secret Santa", because she guessed it was me. Oops.

And I still don't have wrapping paper, so I'm going to do it again.

Another thought: I have had this keyboard for over a year. It's a fully customizable Razer keyboard, and I have customized layouts for every game I play, and somehow it still took me over a year to figure out that I can also remap the keys to make the "play/pause" button for my media player and the volume controls more accessible, so I don't have to stretch my tiny baby hand across this big-ass keyboard, while simultaneously having to press the "FN" key, just to turn the volume up.

Why did it take me OVER A YEAR to realize this?

You don't have to fit into a mold to find your happiness. You don't have to be a "respectable gay" who lives in a suburbs and is in a monogamous relationship in order to be matter. Don't allow your fear of "what will people think" stop you from living your best life

 

Hi there. I live by a lot of Mormons and went to school with a lot of them as well during the short time I was in public high school. Anyways it was very interesting to see some of the kids that planned on leaving the church once they turned 18. I think some were gay. I remember a few non Mormon people that were openly gay and they said that they did not feel accepted. I also know one girl who I still talk to she’s straight but she would tell me all the dysfunction going on in her family. I do agree that on average religion is more harmful than good. That isn’t to say that’s all religion does or that all religious people are bad but I do hope that your gf find a soloution soon. If you want to please have her join this site.

On a side note when I first read this I thought you had made your own thread. Then I started reading responses under you and I was like wait what? Then I realized it was the What are you thinking thread.

 

Saw a gay pride Christmas ornament at CVS today while shopping with my family. It was a pride flag with the phrase "Love is love" written under it. Thought it was adorable! If I was out, I'd have bought one for myself.
