    when i was 7 my parents got divorced and I never knew why. I just found out it's because my dad is gay. my parents kept it a secret for me because they thought i wouldnt understand until now. I can't believe they never told me

    Wow. That must have been quite a surprise. Is there any reason they didn't feel like you'd understand sooner? This probably is a lot to take in.

    my mom said she didn't want me to know because she thinks being gay is disgusting and a mental illness and that she thought i wouldn't understand

    I'm sorry she feels that way. That must be tough to deal with. Is it possible that maybe she will ever come around? Is she or you still in touch with your father?

    yes my dad lives an hour away from me and he visits sometimes. I don't think my mom will ever understand

    It's a shame your mum feels that way. This is only my opinion but I didn't choose my sexuality, I was born the way I am. I hope now it's out in the open you and your dad can build a strong relationship, honesty can bring people closer together...
