Spinoff of the Wedding Thread

I'm not interested in engagement rings or gifts but would wear/give one if it was important to my fiancé(e). As to proposing, it's not something I would be all that exercised about, but I understand wanting to make it a special occasion. I would want a small ceremony and party but if possible in a certain place that's important to me.

I like how everyone on this thread has put a lot of thought into making the occasion and all its symbols meaningful. The wedding industry has destroyed that to the extent that the public aspect generally overwhelms the private.
