So today I got hit on by a girl at my college. I was reading a book, (Women in Love by DH Lawrence, pretty sure the title of the book had a lot to do with it!) Her eyes lit up and she started excitedly asking if I liked it etc. And then when I came back later and she was still there I smiled at her and she smiled back and her smile was really big and her eyes lit up again. I smiled because I was really impressed with how brave she was to approach me and to confirm that she was right in her assumption that yes I am queer. It was just a nice experience and I guess I wanted to share it.

Thanks everyone! I usually don't post stuff like this but it just really made me happy and I wanted to share it with people. I guess I was also hoping that this would give people hope. I know how it feels to feel like you go unnoticed, but I promise that's not true and someone will come along and appreciate you for you. Never give up!

I also highly recommend that bi girls and lesbians carry around DH Lawrence books lol. It seems that his books attract other lady lovers like bees to a hive.

I loved reading this thread. More so than any D.H.Lawrence.

Thank you for sharing! It does give me a little bit of hope after the past year or so of heartbreak. I'm happy for you, and thanks again!

I am glad this helped you! This is why I wanted to share this story. It is hard when you feel invisible, but it can feel so good when you are validated.

That's so awesome to get that validation and reciprocation. What's it like to be hit on by someone of the same sex? Any different than your experiences with the opposite?

Well, honestly it felt mostly the same. I have flirted and been flirted with by guys before and it didn't really feel different. The only thing that was different was that she was a little more shy and careful, which I'm not sure is just a girl thing or she's was feeling me out to see if I was straight and whether to even bother. I made sure to reward her by making it very clear that I understood she was hitting on me, is lots of eye contact, smiling etc. I actually had to get up and go away and then came back, and when I caught her eye I smiled and kinda made my eyes hover on her and she caught it and smiled back very appreciately. I thought she was hitting on me before, but that last smile? Totally gay lol. So for me the only difference is I and her both had to kinda double check whether each other were just being friendly or whether we were actually flirting with each other. Which we were. I also think you can tell based on the specificity of the compliments they give. The girl complimented me on a book called Women in Love. I mean, she got so excited about that book she was talking a mile a minute lol. And I met another girl who said she liked my shirt. Seems like a typical straight compliment right? But I was sitting down in a chair. She couldn't actually see my shirt all that well from where she was sitting but I did have my sleeves rolled up. She also said hi to me again later. So there are lots of little signs to watch out for.

Oh cool! I couldn't get into that one the first go round. I may have to try it again. I also love his short story St. Mawr.

I would recommend it. DH Lawrence was bisexual. Did you read any books by Virginia Woolf?

Yes! I loved Orlando! I thought it was incredible. Woolf was bisexual too. (But I'm sure you knew that.)
