Do you prefer someone to gently / indirectly ask you out or someone who just goes for it - tell you they are attracted and would like to go out with you? Or any examples of what has worked would be helpful. Want to ask someone out who I have not seen in a long time. They may well not be interested (I can cope with rejection) but would like to nail it as best I can.
I'm normally the one who does the asking (and even then I have to coax them into getting off their ass and coming to meet me) so if someone makes the first move on me, it's a nice change and a nice surprise. So yeah, be direct. When someone asks me out of the blue, I suddenly feel more attractive and more interesting and it motivates me. Being subtle takes too much effort.
I am a fan of the direct approach, but if the person asking is a bit nervous or awkward for some reason I find it cuter.
Direct approach for sure, when they're too subtle about it then it can easily seem like just a friendly meetup instead of a date which is confusing. Most impressive way anyone ever asked me was just walking up and saying 'hey I don't know your name but you're cute so want to take me on a date tonight?' It was just so blunt and out of the ordinary - they made their intentions clear in one sentence and caught me totally off guard.
I was only asked out once; when I was 17... I was working at a video store and my supervised would come in with a group of friends C.S. when she was off and some of her friends were gay. She later told me that one of her gay friends liked me and wanted to know if I would be interested...being 17 and insecure I said I’m not into that...looking back now; I do wonder what it would have been like if I would have taken the offer...
