The new fantasy cartoon by Matt Groening on Netflix. I've only watched the first two episodes so far. It does remind me of the Benders Game episodes from Futurama when all the characters end up in a D&D style realm taking the piss out of Lord of the Rings. I'm not really loving the three main characters, the princess, elf and demon. They seem a bit like cheap knockoffs of Leela, Fry and Bender. I think the characters at the palace are more amusing, like the King, step mother and the maid. the step mother is some sort of fish creature so she gets a lot of Dr. Zoidberg type gags. Oddly, all the human characters are drawn with five fingers on each hand this time round. I thought Groening would stick with the eight fingered characters like in Simpsons and Futurama.
I just finished the first, and only season this morning. It had some good moments. It seems promising
I was wondering about that show. I watched the preview and it reminded me too much of the Simpson's - same voices. I'm currently enjoying the show Dark Matter, which is corny Sci-Fi. I think I'm in the middle of 2nd season. Kind of reminds me of the tv show Stargate with subtle humor. Also started the movie: "Man Vs." last night. I'm about 1/2 through. Looks to be Cody Ludin (survival instructor who drinks his own urine) meets the Blair Witch Project and Predator.
I liked that one, I wish they'd do another season. Feel like I've watched all the good shows and there's little left worthwhile. I'm close to dropping Netflix and picking up Amazon Prime. See if they have anything worth watching.
They are in the process of getting season two under way. May be in preproduction but they are working on it. I have prime but I rarely watch it
You should check it out. I've never cared for Jason Bateman till seeing him in this show. Ozark is about money laundering and has a Breaking Bad type feel to it. I found it really entertaining and if I can't find anything else worth watching might watch it again.
Dark and Narcos are decent. Narcos is a long show. I'm slowly watching Fauda on Netflix. Started watching it dubbed into english then switched to subtitles. It's Israeli anti-terror team shoot-em up type show. If you read the news about it, turns out it's popular with both Jews and Muslims in the middle east. Taking a break from it right now.
I watched a few episodes, but couldn't really get into it. I honestly was anticipating it, but to me it was kind of dull. Elfo reminds me of Bart Simpson, it's the look! And I agree with another poster, kind of reminds me of Futurama also.
I tried to watch it and couldn’t really get into it. Admittedly, I don’t think I gave it a chance only watching one episode. I felt easily distracted but also that could be that it didn’t really entertain me and draw me in. I will try it again at some point but initial impressions I felt bored.
I'm currently watching the first episode now. It's ok but don't know how invested I'm going to be in watching the rest of the series.
I've watched a few more episodes. I think Elfo is putting me off, he's a rubbish character. As another poster said, he looks like Bart Simpson, but he does not have any of Bart's traits. Bart is a menace and prankster, whereas in Disenchantment, Luci is the devil talking Bean into doing bad things and Elfo is trying to be the angel talking her into being good. So it doesn't work that his design is based on/nodding to Bart Simpson. It also makes the "will they/won't they" situation between Bean and Elfo more creepy because he looks like an underage character. The "will they/won't they" thing was done much better with Fry and Leela. Again, it's the additional characters who get little screen time that are the strong points for me. The messenger who is always announcing things, the nuns all made me laugh when Bean was sent to the nunnery for punishment, I thought the executioner was funny as well.
Well I've given up on Disenchantment and started watching Dragon Prince. A much better animated fantasy!
I finally got around to finishing season 1 and am now on season 2. It became a lot more interesting when Bean's mother returned. I am enjoying it now. It took a while for the series to grow on me, mainly because I found the elves so disppointing. I still think they should have used tall Tolkien style elves, but I guess Groening just has a preference for parodying the little cutesy elf characters in his cartoons. I do like the hand drawn 2d art style.
