So I'm always tried . I also have a hard time falling asleep and never feel refreshed in the morning . I've drank tea , tried yoga . So I just want to know if anyone has advice on how to get a good night's sleep . Also sorry I haven't posted in a while
Don't use any screens at least an hour before bed, ie phone, computer etc, the blue light confuses your brain and makes it harder to get to sleep as it thinks it is day (orange filters do little to help). Also try going for walks before you go to bed.
Bi and Emo.....I listen to an audio book as I go to sleep...it works for me, but I don't know if it would for anyone else! .....David
If you look into it there are certain breathing techniques and relaxation techniques that can assist in falling asleep as well as certain drinks/foods.. And of course as mentioned already separate yourself from technology and tasks.
This page from the UK Sleep Council offers some good hints and tips: https://sleepcouncil.org.uk/seven-steps-to-a-better-nights-sleep/
Trying to create a consistent schedule can help. A lot of times people will wake up early on weekdays when they have school or work, and then sleep in on weekends. It's better to sleep the same amount every night so your body can build a habit. There is other advice too, like avoid working out or eating right before bed time. Give yourself a break from screens before you try to go to sleep. Perhaps try some breathing techniques or listening to white noise / calming music before sleeping. Don't drink caffeine in the evening. I struggled with really bad insomnia over the past year and what helped me often was: having a cup of hot non-caffeinated tea before bed, putting on some calm instrumental music, and keeping the room pitch black. Eventually though, even those things didn't work and I talked to my doctor about it. I was prescribed sleep aids, and since then have been getting 8-12 hours of sleep a night. Try everything you can, but if all of that doesn't work it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor to ascertain what might be causing the insomnia.
My doctor gave me tablets to wake me up because I have a medical condition that makes me sleepy during the day. I end up with a lot of sleep deprivation.
I'm also usually tired most of the time. people at work ask me if I'm tired, my usual answer being "always". I know I mostly bring this on myself though. at my age (51), I don't do nearly enough to take better care of myself. getting away from the tech is a good start I would agree with. I try and do that by reading for at least half an hour, unless I start nodding off sooner. *note, that's reading an actual book, not a kindle or tablet.
1. Mix 2 teaspoon orange flower water in 1 mug cup to drink or drink hot milk with some honey before sleep. 2. Eat mashed banana with quark 1 hour/half an hour(?) before sleeping. 3. Get a nightlight that is red, it increases your melatonin for sleeping.
I don't have trouble getting to sleep, by I sometimes have trouble staying asleep or I wake up and can't get back to sleep. I take an OTC sleep aid every night. I take half of the recommended dosage and it seems to work most nights.
God sleep is a pain for me! It's been a year now that it takes me at least 2 hours to fall asleep and once a month I get terrible insomnia and I can go 4 days straight without any sleep because of my anxiety..(I don't wish that to anyone) Before all that I was sleeping like a baby I don't know what's going on... If I fall asleep really quickly one random night I'm so proud the next morning haha
When I realize that I'm not falling asleep as soon as I expected, it's usually because the room is not dark enough or I'm putting too much tension on my eyes instead of gently closing it. That's the case for me.
I can go through horrific spells of insomnia and generally find it difficult to fall asleep. I've stated taking Dream Water.. it is an OTC natural sleep aid (either liquid or powder form) and it really has been helping me fall asleep much faster at night. Of course, like with anything, your mileage may vary
