I had a wonderful visit with my family this past weekend. It was great to see them, and we even talked about how I’ve been seeing a therapist (I didn’t bring up that she’s a gender therapist) and how I’m going to start taking medication for anxiety and depression. Just bringing stuff like this up is a big deal in my family, and I’m glad it’s happening. This is also the last time I will see them before I come out to them, if I keep to the deadline I set myself. I really wanted to have a good visit with everyone before I come out, and I did.

so, this weekend, I had a girls day with one of my best friends, did some shopping and coffee then to a gallery owned by two of my other friends. then chatting about the new girl she is interested in; it was nice to just talk and not think about gender, even if it did come up. also, and this is big to me; I started going to a polyamoury support group in the spring, trying to get a handle on my multiple attractions that I've experienced for years. and last month there was this woman there, we chatted for a little bit and about a week and a half ago she sent me a friend request on FB, I accepted it and we started messaging. I really think she's interested in me, knowing that I'm a lot older than her and that I'm trans. she said she really wanted to get to know me better. we have another meeting tonight and she said she was really eager to see me again, and I'm pretty eager to see her too oh boy....

I know this doesn't really seem like such a big deal but (the thread is called "small victories") I finally changed my gender on my profile to "Male (trans*)" instead of just "Lesbian".

Despite all my doubts it does make me feel better to put it out there -- no matter how anonymously -- that I'm male and that I'm trans instead of constantly worrying that I'll "change my mind".

Re-certified my first aid certificate today, and I wasn't trying to pass because I'm back in my hometown, but everyone besides the instructor and one other person I knew from school referred to me with male pronouns.

Talked to my doctor about getting the paperwork for my legal name and gender marker change, and it's underway. Also, my testosterone dose will be raised soon.

I came out to another one of my coworkers. She took it really well! I'm lucky that most people at my workplace are cool with LGBT people.

    ok so victory update......

I went to my meeting last night and while we didn't get to sit and talk even during the break. I did get a chance at the end and I asked her if she wanted to do something on Friday when I'm back in the city. and she said yes! so I messaged her my mobile number and i'm going to call her this afternoon or tomorrow and finalize what we want to do.....

note; other than coffee this is my first date in nearly 30 years.

I was helping my dad pour concrete for his boiler room, and he typically uses gendered pronouns, but when he asked me to get the wheelbarrow, he said, “hey, wheelbarrow-person”.

I raised a ticket with HR to change my preferred name at work... and it got accepted. Just like that.
Also, my manager let my colleagues know during a meeting, and in the past few days they've definitely been trying to use it instead, which feels really good!

New ID card. The pic is masculine enough. Despite the "F", I don't hate my ID card anymore! \o/ It's not like carrying my sister's documents anymore.

I guess my mom is becoming better with clothes, she's understnading about shorts and tshirts and sneakers when we're packing our bags for holidays. Usually my mom complained how bulky those are and how much space they take up in bags. My recent remark about how certain feminine articles of clothing make me feel uncomfortable must have reached mom.
