I read something a while ago about left handedness being related to homosexuality. Obviously a lot of studies about this subject have to be taken with a grain of salt, but I was just wondering if anyone has noticed this? It resonated with me because I’m left handed!

Hmm not sure if it's relevant but I'm bisexual and even though I write primarily with my right hand I prefer my left hand for pretty much everything else.

    Transgender, Pansexual and right handed!

I've known a fair share of left-handed people and at the time I knew them, they were in heteronormative relationships.

Bisexual and righthanded, my BF straight and both hands. And we both think he was left handed to begin with but due to school, parents etc. started to use his right hand for writing etc. He still eats the left handed way.

Right handed and pretty gay bisexual here.
It's an old wives' tale, or husbands'. There hasn't been enough conclusive evidence for either so they're both speculated mostly theoretically. Combining them just makes for better gossip. But it's interesting how left handed people were once discriminated like LGBT people are today

Well, logically it should be false
I've got lots of friends who are more left-handed than most people. And I have disproportionately many gender non-conforming friends. So that might be a skewed perspective.

This seems false to me. There are a lot of online theories that aren't true. I mean look at me, I'm bi and I'm right handed.

Not sure the exact truth to that, but interesting. I can use both hands, but usually prefer the right for writing. Anything else I can use either hand equally as well, except softball/baseball, I can only bat left handed.

I use both hands. I have a friend who's exclusively left-handed, and he is both trans and gay. Otherwise, the others are right-handed, but most of them are also LGBT in some way, so yeah, no correlation in my circle.

    Bi and Left handed

The only difference that was suggested through modern research between right handed and left handed people is that left handed people seem more likely to have less lateralized brains overall. Some language processes of the brain seem present in only the left hemisphere for most right handed people but found in both hemispheres for many left handed people. Overall, new research suggests there’s much less correlation between hand dominance and brain structure than once thought.
The idea that lefthandedness correlates to homosexuality reminds me of how some American neurologists in the early 1900s saw right hemisphere dominance as inferior to left hemisphere dominance. So they associated left handed people to “inferior people”, and “inferior people” to negative “right hemisphere characteristics”. Early 1900s neuroscience in America had significant racist, misogynist, and homophobic biases. (Aka eugenics) So, if the studies you’re talking about come from this era, a ton of salt is needed.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hmm I don't know. Im bi and right handed. My left is all but useless to me except for I thinking swinging a bat? My sister is left handed but she is very straight, at least right now. My uncle however, was naturally left handed, but by result of being in the school system he was told to use his right hand and is now right handed. He however, is gay.

I'm gay and use my right hand for writing, my left is better for a lot of other things though. So a little ambidextrous.

I'm left-handed. My older sister is also left-handed, but she's straight. Parents are both right-handed.
