People asked me why I wasn't around for the 4th this year. Yeah. I wonder why?

I was absolutely ashamed when my state (Georgia) passed a similar law to this nonsense not long ago. That we're putting some borderline-cultist's prejudice over children being to grow up with homes and families. If anything, it should be the child's decision. Not some old creep in a chair with a power complex.

I can't say I'm surprised. Just very, very disappointed.

I can't adopt because I was born a certain way. Meanwhile well-known violent criminals can get war weapons, because it'd be against freedom to deny them that. Priorities.
People care more about money and power than they do about eachother... Sigh.

I thought one of their arguments against gay marriage was that marriage is supposed to produce children. So if they won't let ex-divorcees adopt, by extension they might also try to make divorce illegal sooner or later.
You guys need to vote smart in your mid-terms. The rise of the right in America inspires bigots all around the world.
    It affects all of us.

On Tuesday, one of the arguments for scrapping the anti-LGBT section 377 here, during our ongoing Supreme Court hearings, quoted Lawrence vs Texas. So it'll push back the LGBT movement by decades if our right were to get inspired by yours.

Not surprised, but still disgusted. Republicans are hateful bastards. They LOVE doing shit like this. Anything to strip rights from anyone who isn't white male Christian.

I don't even think that Trump is the problem (he doesn't seem to care about LGBT issues at all), it is many Republican politicians and supporters (not all) that are the issue. I don't disagree with everything that Republicans stand for, but they are too backwards.

There are so many kids that needs homes, they should be encouraging more people to adopt instead of barring people from adoption.

Its both. The big fight being fought right now is under "freedom of religion". Trump and many republicans want to legalize discrimination based on religion beliefs. Gay republicans will literally tell you that they think this is fine and that they are protection the rights of religious people. This is a harder fight since is not straight up homophobia and its presented as fighting for the right to discriminate.

Since when is two people getting married legally supposed to matter to religious folks who preach about the first amendment?

It’s complete hypocrisy. These are basic human rights, you don’t need the government to push your agenda.

This is very disappointing. This law is disguised as protecting children, but it's really (a) hurting children who now have to spend a lot more time shuffling through the foster system, and (b) discrimination against the gay parents who could have given those children a stable healthy environment to grow up in.

They say 9 states have passed this law so far. I hope it stops there and reverses direction.
