Anyone else get excited when you see other gay people? Like what goes through your head if you do?

I live in a small town and keep running into this one guy who I knew was gay right away. (Based off stereotypes. I suck, I know.) I think he knew I was lesbian, because he seemed happy to see me too, even though we don’t actually know each other, and last time he even gave me a hug and commented on my necklace.... which was rainbow colored, saying he wanted one. Kinda felt like we were confirming what we already believed.

I honestly don’t know what I’m thinking during this. I feel like a dog when they see other dogs. Don’t know why. Thoughts?

Yes! Every time that I see a gay guy in public or someone that seems gay, it feels very special.

It's cool. I like to give them a big smile. They don't know if I'm gay or straight but I like to think it gives them a bit of a "good for you" vibe...bit like a "like" on a forum or farce book.

I get exited and happy too  it's like: " YAy, one of my people™️"
i don't usually base that on how attractive they are, but more on the fact that we have that thing in common and i must admit that being lgbt in my area is kinda isolating, so seeing sb lgbt irl always makes my day

Yeah, I think that must be a lot of it. Not many lgbt+ people in my area, so when I do see one I suddenly don’t feel so lonely. Like they might understand. Being gay is not okay in my family, and the area a live is pretty conservative, so even people who are gay will hide it. I know of four in my town.

A guy who moved away with his boyfriend. A guy who works at petco, a older guy who’s my grandmother’s health aid, and a girl at my cosmetology school. Literally all the gay people I’ve ever met in my life. Then I met this new guy around my age and he seems pretty cool. Idk, I’m lonely, I guess.

This is great. I really want queer friends! I only knew one girl I really liked but she was only in my class last semester and we're going to different schools. Other than her, there is this lesbian couple who comes in the library where I work, but thats it.

Ironically I managed to luck out having queer friends. Everyone I have come out to so far I knew were already LGBT or came out to me, either as not straight or in one case, nonbinary. Three of them are my core friend circle, so it's kind of nice.

That does sound nice! I'm really jealous. I have gay family members but I don't get to see them often because they live further away.

Same, I have a second-cousin who is gay (the only other LGBT family member that I know of besides myself) that I haven't seen in ages, also because he lives far away. He keeps asking when a group of the cousins are going to hang out, we just have to coordinate schedules.

I'm not out to my family though. I wonder if he'd be able to figure it out?

Both of my uncles on my mom's side are gay and I'm close with them. But one thing I wish sometimes is that there was a girl in my family who was not straight. To my knowledge there aren't any. I just think it would be nice to have someone to talk to who understood it from the female perspective.

This may sound odd but I really kinda secretly wish one of my female cousins was bi or something too. Who knows maybe one of them is but they're just closeted.

You can't swing a dead cat where I love without hitting a gay person. But I suppose when I am in other contexts I notice when someone is gay.

Really?! I guess I should consider living in Chicago then. I had no idea there were so many gay people there.

The city as a whole is very gay friendly but it also has pretty established gay neighborhoods, one where the younger gays rent where the gay clubs are and one where the more established gays buy, where the gay restaurants are.:grinning:

I enjoy seeing lesbian couples and trans males, but I feel oddly uncomfortable around gay men and trans females. I often feeling like they're judging me and my appearance.
