It's a bit out there, but I like Doctor Who and Missy/The Master. Basically they're both thousands of years old and every time they die they regenerate into a new body, sometimes it's male and sometimes it's female. Sometimes both are male or female. Sometimes they're enemies and sometimes friends. There's just something nice about a multi-thousand year romance switching between genders randomly. When another character questioned that once, The Doctor replied with 'We're billions of years beyond your petty human obsession with gender and its associated stereotypes'.
