So, I know that the question seems a little bit stupid. However, since I accepted myself as gay I keep seeing "possible gay" everywhere. For example, when I see two guys (two girls) walking in a park or watching a movie together I assume they are a gay couple. When I see a cute guy in the park, I assume he is gay. I know this is not always the case (of course, gay people are much less numerous compared to straight people), but I am curious if you have experienced the same.
Yes - I see that all of the time. Just today at the Supermarket, I saw two guys who looked to be in their 20's doing their shopping together. I got a gay vibe from seeing them.
That happens to me too. I've started to notice things like eye contact between friends more and when they look at each other longer than usual I start to think there's some gay interests going on.
There's a name in psychology for it which escapes me right now, but basically it's pretty much the same thing as when you buy, say, a Honda Civic and then all the sudden you notice a million Civics on the road. Your brain is just more primed to notice them.
Yes. I find now that I not only see signs people are gay I wouldn't have before I am also just looking for more gay people in general when I go out. I read books, watch movies, that aren't even queer related, and immediately think of how such and such character could be bi, lesbian, gay etc. So yeah, I do feel like now that I belong and relate to the LGB community I see it everywhere.
When you're a part of the LGBT community you notice other people who might be too. I catch myself trying to "identify" gay or trans people that I meet. Your senses are just a little more tuned to that, I think. And maybe there is also a little bit of wishful thinking when you see a cutie walk past...
Definitely wishful thinking. I like to tell myself everyone out there is really bisexual and that there's always hope they might like me even if they look straight or gay.
Oh that's nice! I didn't know this. Oh exactly the same for me... I hope sometimes that they they become gay Exactly... I am very shy in general, but when I see a cute guy I can't help in staring at him lol. Maybe some people find it creepy.
Yep! And this is one of the reasons why through out history LGBT people have used subtle hints that only other LGBT people would be looking for and straight people will just completely miss.
The term for it is the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. https://psmag.com/social-justice/theres-a-name-for-that-the-baader-meinhof-phenomenon-59670
I might notice two people of the same sex who appear to be couples or someone who gives off a gay vibe, from time to time. I can never be sure because my guesses are derived from stereotypes.
