This is probably a big question. Why do societies and individuals care so much about one's orientation? Why would someone be happy or angry about something that doesn't concern them in any way? I don't understand it..
I'd guess because so many religions say it's wrong to not be straight and religion controls the culture of a country.
I have no clue either. But they also care whether you divorce or if you sleep with someone before marriage even if you use protection. Oh, they care if you use condoms too! Condoms are evil and corruption.
Because if affects every single part of your life and in turn other people's lives. It changes how we handle so many legal issues, it changes how we talk about gender norms and that usually opens a huge can of worms that people don't enjoy going into. Sexuality is everywhere around us and so are the rules that come with it. When someone comes in a breaks the whole thing up then it makes people uncomfortable. This happens to people that don't have problems with LGBT people but still feel uneasy about it all. Of course religion and fake science telling everyone that we are the worst thing in the world hasn't helped either.
I don't understand society, it's so messy ugh. Basically society runs on sex? Even when it doesn't directly concern reproduction? (What am I even talking about)
According to some psychologists like Freud, yea pretty much. He believed that almost every decision a person makes has sexuality as an underlying cause. That kind of belief would go like this - Let's say you buy a red car. Why did you want it to be red? Because it's the most noticeable color, and you want to be noticed by potential sexual partners, so you picked a red car because on some level your mind thinks having a red car will get you sex easier than a blue car would have. That type of stuff supposedly contributes to everyone's likes and dislikes according to him.
It does amuse greatly that the people who tell us sex shouldn't be spoken about, taught in school,written about or shown on the screen seem to be the ones most obsessed over who is doing what to who and with what body parts they are doing it!
I have no idea. I could care less. I have never and will never understand why it bothers people so much. I think religion is the cause.
