So, to put it straight, I found out that the sister of the guy I like is actually bisexual. Does this make there a higher likelihood of the person I love being gay/bisexual or even willing to be experimental based on the fact that his sister is sort of in that category?

Anecdotally, info is mixed on that. Lots of stories of families of 4 or 5 children with one gay child, and other stories of families with 2 or 3 children, where both or all are gay. There does seem to be some indication that it may run in extended families (meaning, if you are gay, you are likely to have cousins or other relatives who are gay), but I haven't personally seen any studies that make any solid claims to that effect.

Studies indicate a much higher probability of homosexuality in younger brothers with an older homosexual brother in particular.

One thing we can probably assume is that he won't hate you for being gay, at least it seems that way since his sister is somewhat out.

He doesn't, he already found out in the worst way possible. It's me that wants to find out about him now.

I've read about that as well, and I forgot to mention that piece. The best theory I've heard is increasing estrogen levels in the womb of mothers after their second or third child. But I haven't seen anything that specifically points to clustering of LGBT kids in specific families, other than anecdotal reports.

My mom had 3 kids. Only 1 of them is straight, and it’s not me. LOL

I have never heard of this, though I confess I don’t know many out people. As far as I know, my siblings are straight. Of course they think I am as well. So who knows

I've heard that families with lots of kids have more than one who is gay or bi. And heard about twins being gay. Not sure the actual statistics or chances though. But me and my brother are bi and our cousin is gay. And I think another cousin is bi if not gay.

The most recent statistic I know for this was like 2001 in the David Meyers psych text book. It was ~ 30% of non identical twins where both where gay if one was, and ~ 50% for identical twins.

Well that's interesting. I have a twin - now this makes me wonder about him.

I've seen that, too, but, in my case, I'm Bi, but my younger brother (and only sibling) is definitely straight. Kinda the opposite of that theory....:relaxed:

Well it is only an increase in probability. We do know for a fact that increase testosterone in the wombs of sheep leads to female sheep offspring that display homosexual behavior.

I’m gay - the most “out-and-proud lesbian” my best friend knows, in her words - while my sister is so stereotypically straight and traditionally feminine she “exudes heterosexuality,” according to her friends (they’re right). Also, I’m a very hesitant and generally relationship-shy person, while my sister dates and progresses in intimacy much, much more easily. To top it off, we’re fraternal twins. If there is a God, I’m pretty sure he’s laughing right now.

My sister and I both like guys. I have a gay cousin on one side of my family and a bi cousin on the other side.

Just to add my ten pence. There are 3 (2 sons and a daughter) of us in the family and all of us gay. I also have another friend who is gay with a gay brother.
