I really hate being called pansexual.
I'm attracted to people no matter what they identify as or have "down there."
But people keep putting the pansexual label on me.
It makes me frustrated and uncomfortable, I absolutely hate when people do it!
Can any other bisexual people relate or am I just alone?

    Hey @LazyGhost !

I don't get overly riled up about it, but I agree with you! Pansexuality is a totally made-up term and, honestly is just bisexuality.

No one tries to create new, artificial sexuality terms for Gay people who have specific individual preferences (such as BDSM, festishes, racial, etc), so why do we need a sexuality term any more expansive than Bisexual in addition to Homosexual and Heterosexual?

I've never been called that probably because I don't refer to myself as pansexual

I've come to the conclusion that no matter if you have three or three hundred different names to identify your sexuality or gender, it's still always going to be a can of worms just because everyone has their own visualization of the term. So for some, the basic terms work, for others like myself I just find it frustrating because no matter what term I use I still have to break it down in order for most people to be able to halfway understand.

Then I have to ask myself do I even need to put a name on any of it anyway? I'm just "me".

I'm probably more pansexual too, but I don't really think about that because I prefer the word bisexual anyway. Pansexual falls under the bi+ umbrella anyway.

i definitely fit the definition for pansexual but identity as bi primarily. i hab's no problem with the term psnsexual though. both labels have a history and i think either should be respected.

I'm bisexual and I honestly just prefer the bisexual label even though I could probably go for anyone because I feel the pansexual label is unnecessary and honestly pansexuality is just a form of bisexuality.

No one has ever called me pansexual, but I understand why the term exists: it includes people who have a nonconformist gender identity. One of my best friends calls herself pansexual.

I'm the same. I have people who I am physically attracted to, people who I am emotionally attracted to, people who I am sexually attracted to, and all combinations of the three...with guys and/or girls, it doesn't matter. So bisexual/biromantic/biemotional whatever. It's not important really. Pansexual covers these, but so does the wide definition of bisexual. And for most people, their sexuality and sexual desires define them. So bisexual sums me up just fine, although I'm more like a 4.5 on Kinsey.
But pansexual as I word does not gel with me. It makes me think of a) pan pipes, or b) pots and pans...neither of which I have any attraction or affinity to!

I feel this way too. I have never understood the point of pansexuality. To me it's the same thing.

@Love4Ever I've never been called pansexual but they few people I'm out to just refuse to believe that I'm bisexual. I seriously think one of them is being willfully ignorant, for some reason they just can't understand that I like both men and woman and say that I have to pick one. I don't know how to explain it to any better than I already have.

I've never been labeled pansexual, but I don't think I would like it if I was. I totally agree with you!

I think because technically “bi” means two. So since you are attracted to more than two, you fall under “pan”. I’m not sure what I would really be considered as I’m only attracted to straight males but could be attracted to straight, gay or bi females...? (Lmk if that is still bi?) I identify as heteroflexible and biromantic, but sometimes, just so people understand, I just simply say “bisexual”.

This is how I define it. I think that there is a difference, but I also think thats what makes it difficult because everyone's definition is different!

When someone says "pan", I always think of Peter Pan...who is clearly gay...so I'm as confused as hell!
