Roseanne is back on ABC. The revival premiered last night. I was wondering if any of you watched it and if so what did you think?

It was really great. Nice to have the Conner family back.

Nope. Too young to care about the original, and could care even less about this one for reasons I won't get in to here.

I saw bits and pieces of the original roseanne on tv. I saw the reboot and it was okay. I liked how they approached the subject of Darlene's son's crossdressing curiosity. I don't think he's gay, I think he's just curious

I like the revival. The acting was really good. Especially when Darlene talks to her son about being different. I also think they tackled a lot of things which aren't always discussed on tv. I also think it's interesting that the Conners are trump supporters. Usually most abc shows are pretty liberal but this ones different which is good because it makes it more diverse.

I am surprised by how well done this show is.
Every time you get ready to roll your eyes, they completely turn it around on you.

If this type of sitcom has a future, this is it.

Plus the little son is soo sweet

Hmmm, it's like an old pop band coming back isn't it? If it's on a channel I get I'll give it a watch to see. But there is even more TV around now than there was back then, which wasn't so long ago. Why not put reruns of Roseanne on? It was never one of my fav favs anyway. Yeah, it was watchable. Darlene - the dark haired girl - was always my favourite. She could be as funny as Roseanne.i don't think she is in the new one. Didn't she give up on acting?

I never heard of Rosanne before this remake actually. When was it even on and on what channel? To be honest, when I was younger I found those American sitcoms very cringey and unfunny, so avoided them. Just stuck with My Family, Keeping Up Appearances, Only Fools and Horses etc.

It was an ABC show from the late 80s-90s. You probably didn't miss much... But then I didn't like the show. Wikipedia article about Roseanne: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roseanne

Due to living arrangements/circumstances of the 90s, I saw a lot of US TV. It was interesting, because I'd seen very little TV growing up--my family was not much of a TV watching family--and very little I saw during that period of the 90s made me feel like I'd missed much growing up. I honestly have little or no desire to revisit 95%+ of 1990s network TV in general. With comedies, I disliked almost everything, and what did initially impress me usually eventually became less than amusing. Probably because the original idea had been used up, and it was just a repeat of what had been done before.

Sometimes, I've gotten DVDs from the library of a US show I saw back then just to see if my perception was wrong. (Often, my interest is sparked by positive commentary about some show or other.) I usually end up finding I hate the show as much--or more!--than I did in the 90s...

Back then, I much preferred a lot of the British TV that was run on the local PBS station. (Although, to be fair, there was some British shows I didn't like. But the chances of me seeing something from Britain I liked were much, much better than they were with US TV.)

If I remember rightly, it was on in the 1990s and it was on Channel 4 in the UK. It certainly was on a main channel at the time.

I don't think I will be watching the reboot. My wife and roommate were watching the first episode and I caught the first 15ish minutes of it and holy damn the show changed! It was still kinda funny, but the politics was very much "in your face" and the Roseanne and Dan characters openly and kinda derisively mocked the boy exploring his gender identity twice (didn't sit well with me at all).

The original run was really good. Up until the last couple seasons, when it was Roseanne's absurd fantasy/novel, it was a really funny and honest look at the problems most middle class midwestern families faced during that time period.

And to the person who thought the actress who plays Darlene quit acting, she's appeared quite a bit in the Big Bang Theory as Leonard's former flame/coworker.

Rokara, ahhh, yes, that was her in the Big Bang Theory. I know that Blossom is in it of course. Has she been in anything else?
