I'd be interested to know how many of you guys actively pursue vocal training/gigging or a career in music? Personally I've always had my eye on the west end, and I'm also starting to coach now as well..so I'm just curious.

I can sing high (soprano) and low (baritone) but I can't sing in between (alto)

haha sounds a bit like me :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: my voice is quite far from masculine (which makes me sad) and when I talk, it mostly sounds like a young teenage boy who just starts the puberty. XD when I sing, if I put some effort in it and ignore aching throat, I can even reach the mezzosoprano range - more or less the same as Amy Lee of Evanescence. that's pretty hilarious for a guy :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Somewhere between alto and mezzo soprano. I had to check the ranges and now my throat hurts. xD

Have you practiced talking with a slightly deeper voice?

I can kind of imagine that range, haha. Amy has a cool voice, but Evanescence doesn't seem to be my style of music

When I'm alone sometimes I like alternating between classical style singing and death growling :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It depends for me. I have somewhat of a deeper voice for a female, but I sing in Soprano (last time a music teacher typed me, I was Soprano I). However, I speak somewhere between Soprano II and Alto. So I guess I would say Mezzo.

My vocal singing range is B3 to D6 making me a soprano.
My speaking range is between 269 - 287 Hz.

My vocal range is a bit higher for a girl but I still sound pretty average , so maybe a soprano 2?

I selected tenor on the poll, but I can hit baritone and most bass notes. I haven't taken the time to learn the numbering system of notes, but I bottom out at the Gb at the bottom of the bass clef usually, and I have to flip into falsetto at the A above the tenor clef on my good days. I've never tried testing how far I can go with falsetto.

I quit choir 2 years ago and then I was a tenor. I havn't sang since but I estimate I'm a baritone. I hate how low my voice is when I talk regularly...

I tend to speak like a baritone but "sing" like a tenor.

I've been singing for more than 10 years and although I am most naturally a soprano and it's what I have the most training in, I have a large range. I can sing all the way from soprano 1 to tenor.
