I can’t remember, is it normal not to be able to view anonymous threads at all? Every time I attempt to open in it comes back with an error message.
Hi AS1989, This isn't an error message which you should be getting. Can I ask for you to provide a screenshot of the message you are getting so we can look into this please? Thanks! Martin.
@Chip @Martin I'm having the same issue. But I also noticed that the anonymous sections isn't even showing up for me. And if I try to view any thread that Anonymous is the author, it says I don't have permission to view it.
Ah, I have just spotted the issue. We have recently had to implement additional anti-spam measures to address a few loopholes that existed and were being taken advantage of by persistent spambots. One of them has been to restrict access to the Anon section until a user has made a certain amount of legitimate posts to demonstrate they are here for the right purposes, at which point they're automatically granted access by the forum. One thing I didn't take into account when addressing this issue is that the post counts of users are still a bit all over the place due to tech glitches which are being worked on behind the scenes. As a result, those of you experiencing this issue accessing Anon at the moment will also see that your message count is also displaying quite a low number of messages, which is what is causing the system to prevent access. That's quite a big oversight on my part, so I'll have to go and check in with the tech admin and get this rectified. Apologies for this - the post count issue completely slipped my mind when I was dealing with the anti-spam measures! >.< In the meantime, if anybody is needing urgent access to Anon and is affected by the lost count bug then I would recommend posting in Anon and requesting access. An Admin/CF will be able to manually state it so that you can post your support threads anonymously. fornthe rest of you, I'll get this fixed ASAP. Apologies once again.
I have tweaked the permissions for the Anon forums to open it back up again regardless of post count so that those impacted by the post count bug are no longer affected. Apologies for the inconvenience this caused. It's a setting we'll instead have to implement in future once post counts are reflective of contributions. >.<
