What field/careers do some of you guys work in? How has transition affected your career? Has it made you more comfortable? Has it given you more/less passion? Has it not affected you at all? What are some of your experiences?

I work as a caregiver and so far it's affected me in that I sometimes have to turn down clients because they say they only want a female caregiver. I don't feel right taking those jobs but it's a bit weird because I'm not out to most and I don't start hormones for another month.

i imagine the passion will still be there. despite the low sex drive. But I'm not on hormones yet so idk. I'm sure it's different for everyone.

Considering I don't have one(I'm a student), I'd say not at all. Though HRT has made it harder to stay up as late to do my work(no "testosterone energy boost").

I used to be a DJ, but I stopped when I decided to transition. It was a difficult decision, because I was very passionate about what I did. I loved my career, and had been doing it for 26 years. I guess technically I stopped last year. I DJ'ed as my former self. As I should. That is who the client booked, and that's who people wanted to see. No, it didn't cause dysphoria doing so, but I couldn't wait until the gig was over. But I am still unemployed and looking for a job. Mostly within the Federal Government. But it is really challenging. Definitely NOT because I'm trans, but because I've been doing the same thing for 26 years, and a lot has changed since I last went job hunting LOL.

This is a complicated question for me. While I was in school it did not change much for me. After I graduated though it changed some things. I went to school for video production, but I work in corrections now. I work in a male specific job. So, I wouldn't have my job if I had not transitioned. Transitioning made finding a job in my field pretty hard in my area. So, I'm grateful that I have found something that I like doing and I am hopeful to have a career doing it.

I do basically the same job as a CNA, I'm just not licensed.
