Hey everyone and happy new year

I've come out of hibernation after only being away for only a few weeks  So as some people might have remembered, I wanted to go to some kind of group where I could make friends and meet new people. And if anyone is wondering about going to such a group, my advice would be absolutely go for it and have a great time.

After a long time of searching for the right groups, being super apprehensive and worried, I finally planned a meet that I had to stick to. It was a group for lesbians of all ages in a city about 2.5 hours away from me. But I thought since it seems friendly enough, I could make the trip and it was the best decision! I took a round trip of over 5 hours and that all went smoothly. The venue was even changed at short notice which turned out to be somewhat of a fiasco. I managed to get literally steps away from the cafe where the group were meeting and what would you know...I got 'lost'. After about 15 minutes of going in circles, someone approached me to ask for directions. Once I got talking to her, I found out that she was also making her way to the meet. We both tried in vain to locate the place until we stumbled upon the pretty but well camouflaged sign.

Anyways I finally got inside and met with the group and honestly, I couldn't have asked for anything better. It was such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and they were so warm and easy to talk to. They even wanted me to move to the city as they had all moved there from elsewhere in the U.K. 2 of the group leaders (who were the sweetest couple), even went out of their way to take me to the train station. I literally had the best time and I can't wait to meet up with them again.

Hey congratulations on going to a group. I know of one group in my area I could go to but don't have the nerve.

Thanks @Loves books and @silverhalo. Honestly I have no idea how I did it. I worked up so much courage to do it and even then I didn't think I would go through with it!

I am glad that I went because it was amazing on all counts and great to meet such genuinely nice people.

Yeah very true! And somehow I'm doing it all again next month with a different group. Then meeting up with the group I started with after that.

I'd really like to do something like that... I've only recently came out about a year ago. I'm now 40. My 29 year old GF tho has been openly gay her entire life so it's no big deal to her. So... I'm embarrassed to tell her I want to meet more lesbians. Not for dating of course, I'm incredibly happy, but just to know more women like us. But... Congrats to you!

You might find your girlfriend understands more than you think, even if she doesn't feel that way now, there is probably a time she did.
