I’ve recently not been in the best place lately and I’ve somewhat self diagnosed myself with depression. I think I’m going to start a bullet journal as a way to vent and take a little weight off my shoulders and build up my confidence to ask for help. What are some ways you guys cope with your depression?

Hey! That’s a great idea. Another thing which can help you feel better is exercise. Even just going for regular walks is good. How about going around your neighbourhood, taking photos of the flowers/weeds? Start a photo journal here in the Media section!

Hi. I have been in some pretty low points in life during childhood and later on, but now I'm a lot better. I don't have a magic list that will make everything okay, but if I could say something to myself back then when I felt awful, it would be to try to be kinder with myself and not too harsh.

    - Watching this one comedian I like on YouTube
    - Napping
    - Taking baths
    - Spending time with family, ideally playing board games
    - Talking about what's bothering me with someone I trust
    - Sugary foods
    - Remembering that all my depressive episodes are just waves and waiting until they pass

I went through a period, ending about a month and a half ago and lasting about six months, where I was extremely depressed to the point that I wasn't able to do anything and had to lay in bed and cry for hours on end. I don't know if this is what you experienced, but I do know that the best way to deal with depression, at least in my opinion, is medication. I take Bupropion and it works wonders. However, see if you are chronically depressed or if it will pass, and if it doesn't lighten up naturally than see a psychiatrist.

In 6th grade I wanted to friggin die and how I delt with that is by venting my frustration into a creative project (it's called the astral conspiracy, it would take hours to explain so I'm not going to bother)

I've personally found that regularly exercising has helped me fend off bouts of depression. They've actually found that exercise releases natural endorphins into your system, which elevates your mood and makes you feel better. Talking about what's bothering you with someone you trust also helps tremendously.

All I can mainly do is just take it one day at a time, but mostly I do enjoy some escapism like reading fiction, manga, watching anime, playing video games and mmorpgs.

well, I used to write in a journal, but then I stopped over time as the depressive episodes got better and better, which ironically made them worse. after that I had to rely on myself for awhile, remembering that I'm still alive and that the episode will pass. but ultimately, my first and primary coping mechanism is the bottle. lemme tell you, that shit works wonders
