    Hello:

I wanted to share this question with the Forum. Can you name at least (5) things that you have achieved/accomplished in 2017? Thanking those in advance who have responded to this thread.

    1. In March 2017 I was a high school dropout. Now I am about to start my 3rd semester at a university I really like with a 4.0 GPA.

    2. I've made the first meaningful friendship I've had in about 6 years, with my randomly assigned university roommate, who as it turns out is the best person I've ever known.

    3. I've lost a significant amount of weight ( 75 pounds) and have a much more healthy lifestyle than before.

    4. I discovered my own bisexuality and have begun to explore and accept those new feelings.

    5. I have begun the process of getting my drivers license.

I've never actually written those things out like this before, it felt really good. Thanks for making this thread.

1.) I earned my teaching credential & finished college (for now).

2.) I was hired as a new teacher to teach English at my old high school, and I’ve survived the 1st half of the school year so far. So I got my career established.

3.) Because I have my career established now, I’ve also gotten my financial situation under control, and I can now be financially independent.

4.) I still have a ways to go, but I’ve come to terms with my sexuality, and I’ve come out to a few people. I’m generally more open and comfortable with that side of who I am now.

5.) I’ve been working on getting my anxiety more under control, among other mental health related things, and I still have a ways to go...but I was able to overcome my anxiety enough that I can successfully be independent and have a decent job.

I’ve got some more things in my life that I plan on working toward in 2018, so I hope to add more to this list next year

1 and most important was make a few solid friends

    2. Started my own youtube channel... which I sadly can't share here.

    3. got some help for being miserably short tempered and rage smasher

    4. came up with a home brew world for a pathfinder game for the above mentioned friends

    5. I would like to say I have moved to mourning my father's death in 2016, but in all honesty I am still in the punch god in the face for being a d bag stage of grieving... If anyone else wants to punch god, I'll hit him once for you too if I see him

I don't have a list of achievements but I am still in a better place than I was this time last year. I started saying no to stuff I hated more often and to say yes to things that, even though they were sometimes scary, made me happier in the long run. All minor steps to the outsider looking in, but they feel big to me.

    @JonSomebody

    Nice thread!

It feels like I accomplished fuck-all but I'm sure that can't be true...

    1. I gave someone my number for the first time ever; the romance failed to get off the ground but that led to:

    2. I started going to more support meetings and am actively looking at some parts of my life again with an eye towards some growth.

    3. I submitted a poem to a magazine for the very first time.

    4. I wrote a short film for the first time.

    5. At Christmas, I tried making a custard for the first time but the eggs separated out and it was like eating maple and brown sugar scrambled eggs - will try again someday.

Thank you so much Wikedwitch for your response and compliment. I have to say that I do applaud you for submitting your poem and writing your short film. That is so awesome to me. I've been asked many times by former college professors and close friends to write a book about my personal life and how I've overcome the adversities that I had faced and live to tell about them. One day, I will get up the courage to do so. Thanks again...JS
